Multi-Pup Post!

Ravin Lichvell is sitting at a table: she was already wearing midnight blue silk robes and carrying a grimoire, so Bar just gave her a pointy hat. Costume done.

Scarlet the Devil is going around with a tray of drinks and assorted snacks. Bar picked for her a rather skimpy maid outfit so she decided to play the part.

Carl "CJ" Johnson is wearing full Jedi robes. He has no idea why Bar dressed him that way, and right now is just waiting for his wife and children to show up.

He would not mind some conversation.

Ben Winchester is still in the Rebel Alliance Flightsuit, and while on the lookout for his friends, he is also entertaining himself with an EU book or two.

Ryu Hayabusa has no idea why he is dressed in a chinese jacket, pants and shoes, and why his hair grew enough for a braid, but he is playing along for now. Of course, it might change if people start assaulting him with cold water to test the completeness of the costume.

There is a stranger, a rather ugly man with a huge droopy moustache, a five-a-clock shadow in his face, greasy short hair, and the most horrible polyester-and-fake-leather stage armour one may possibly imagine, sitting by the fireplace, scowling, and stroking a tiny, tiny pale grey tabby kitten.

He does not approach any if the people mentioned in this EP, although he may know some of them.

Ravin is the one to notice the man first: she moved to a nearby seat after a bit, and watches the man grump and pet the cat.

There is a gentleness on the dark, grim, be-moustached face when the man looks at his kitten; and the tiny, tiny cat-child nibbles the man's fingertips, playfully and lovingly.

There is a bit of a wistful sigh: with the exception of a rare few, Ravin can not really feel like that man does. Caring, loving, is still much alien for her.

The kitten has his eyes closed, and enjoys the attention with loud purring.

From a large clay cup, the grim man was sipping mulled wine.

Leaving hat and book behind, Ravin wanders over. "Hello."

"Greetings!" Teja says, looking up from the kitten, and possibly scowling a very little bit less than before: - at least, this is an indifferent stranger to meet, not a friend that would be repulsed, or amused, at his current shape.

She just watches him and the kitten for a moment, unsure of what to say. She was just... fascinated with the display of emotion for a while.

"This is a cat," Teja informs her. "Are they not known on your world?"

"They are. But I have seen them only from away. And large cats, predators, not pets." She nods. "I am Ravin."

"I am Teja," Teja says, foregoing the rest -- she will not recognise him, when she sees him again. "And this is Count, a kitten in my care. He is not a pet: - he will grow up to hunt mice in the stable so they do not eat the horses' feed, hay, straw bedding and all else mice are prone to eat."

"Ah. I was folled them, he semed much like a pet." And the way his human was spoiling it, the cat seemed to be your average housecat.

"He is very small yet," Teja says. "He needs much care and attention, as a small kitten. Later, he shall be free, and useful, and only come for attention when he wishes for it."

Pause.

"And food, of course."

"Of course." She almost smiles, nodding, watching the kitten only now. Pondering.

"Men have ever tamed animals," Teja says. "It is a part of them forming culture, after the legendary times when all was wild and free, even men."

Ah well, she was mistaken. But he seems to be able to offer some knowledge at least.

"Like dogs and horses, and in some worlds, more strange animals."

"Which would, however, be utterly commonplace to that world," Teja says.

"Not completely: only for some people. I have read about strange beasts only a few people seek to tame and keep as companions or pets, like large cats, monkeys, giant birds." Ravin shrugs a bit. "I have no idea how it is done. Animals usually don't like me."

"Touch the kitten," Teja says, holding out the tiny handful of grey fluffy cat to her.

Ravin is surprised... but she reaches out to do it.

Of course, she still has some undead scent... subtle, something only animal noses catch, even if it was much diminished by the life-strong magic of Greensky...

The kitten sniffs, but does not try to flee, or mewl piteously, or any such thing.

"Why should animals not like you?" Teja asks.

"I am a magical being... half-undead." She carefully touches the cat, stroking its headfur, moving fingertips to behind its ears.

"Ahhh," Teja says. "This little cat is dead, though -- given to me by Death personified!"

"Oh." She blinks and nods, petting the cat a bit more, then taking her hand back. "Thank you."

"What for?" Teja asks.

Ravin shrugs. "People are usually disturbed when I mention my half-undeath."

"I am dead; so is the cat," Teja says, "we do not mind!"

"Dead is natural. Alive is natural. Even the undead, are just animating a corpse. But to be really dead and alive at the same time... I am a freak."

A cute freak, but anyway...

"No-one is a freak, in this place!" Teja says, categorically.

"Maybe that is the way it should, but still most people are unsettled by me."

Of course, once it starts ravin milks it for all it is worth, and even has fun with it.

"I am not," Teja says. "You are a pale, dark-haired girl. Nothing I have not seen before. As for being half undead -- I have known shape-shifters and blood-drinkers, and would not hear anything said against them!"

"I am a demi-lich. I look at strong healthy people and my first thought is 'food'. I am a sorceress, and when I am upset my first impulse is to remove the annoyance with a fireball..."

Ravin shrugs. "I am Evil."

"I would assume," Teja says, "that I have often taken breakfast with many that were much more dangerous than you!"

"So I am just unlucky, meeting the over-sensitive ones? And I do not even tall them I keep having mental images of butchering and feasting on their flesh."

Her undead side is hungry, damn it!

"None can be blamed for that which they wish for," Teja says, "unless they act upon it!"

Ravin shakes head. "I am not worried about what other people might think, or blame, or... whatever. What you would do if you were always hungry, and could not eat?"

"Find a substitute that you can eat," Teja says, "just as the blood-drinkers may get blood in goblets, from the bar."

"I think it would be easier if I were a vampire. I mean, people might be less freaked out if I asked for a sip of blood. Of course, I never asked anyone to cut them open and take a few slices of liver..."

"No; and most blood-drinkers don't do that, either. They ask the bar for a goblet of, what do they call it, 'Oh-negative'? I think it is a special, medical designation for blood, that men in the future use."

Pause.

"So you may ask for fresh human liver, and see what is brought up!"

He does not add that some vampires do well with the blood the bar provides, and others find it disgusting; he would, also, not speak of the time he offered his own blood to a vampire that was a dear friend, and needed it to heal, and what came after...

That is personal!

And something she would never do, take blood or anything from someone she considers a friend. Ew.

"I did. Swine liver is a very poor substitute... it is more than physical hunger." Her undead side hungers for living human -essence-...

Teja nods. "That is something you will need to live with, then, and control," he says.

"I do." Ravin shrugs. "Not easy, but I do."

"Good," Teja says. "That is all this place expects of you."

Ravin sighs low, nodding... she gets up, gives the man a half-bow. "I should go."

"Indeed," Teja says. "You may hunt in your world, after all! Fare well!"
