Charlie comes down the stairs, and is a little surprised at the note that pops up on a cocktail napkin.

"Sure, I can, for a while. Let you catch some sleep." He patted the bar top lightly, cocking his head to read the next note. Specials board is on the bottom shelf, with the cocktails book. He retrieves them both, and sits flicking through the pages for a few moments, before he smiles widely.

This could be trouble.

Guppy nods, with another long sigh.

He would have gone for the whiskey. But that demonstrates why he's trying to give it up.

He puts his head in his hands, trying to feel less nauseous.

Charlie leaned down and smiled at Guppy lightly.

"What's wrong, really?"

"... I'm scared, I feel sick, I'm trying not to have a panic attack and I think I may have swallowed some of the fountain water and I bet it wasn't chlorinated."

"It's okay. Just concentrate on breathing for a minute. Don't think of anything in particular." He put a hand gently on his shoulder.

"What are you scared of?"

Guppy tries to control his breathing.

"That he might come back and hurt Alexander. Because I can't watch him every minute. I know the staff won't let him back in, but what about when he's discharged? This guy seemed sorry, he said he didn't want to hurt anyone, but he could be lying."

"I...hope he doesn't." He tilted his head. "Why would he hurt Alexander?"

"He wanted information and thought he could get it faster if he threatened to press one of the buttons on the machine."

Beat.

"The one he picked at random was actually fairly harmless, but it's the principle of the matter."

"Duct tape his fingers together." Charlie suggests this because he's actually done that before, albeit under duress.

"So who is this guy, out of curiosity. You'd said he was your ex-brother-in-law, what happened to earn that particular title?"

"His name is Richard Jameson." Guppy says. "He used to be married to my wife's sister Tanya, who left him three years ago and disappeared. He gatecrashed my wedding when he thought that my wife was her, but didn't cause any trouble. He was hassling us for a bit until Alexander was born, then gave us a break. In the meantime Tanya did actually turn up, with a two year four month old toddler in toe, who is not, incidentally, Richard Jameson's, but is actually the daughter of the guy she had an affair with to get away from him. Who is a disappearing childhood friend of mine named Jake West, who was also on the run until recently after hacking into the bank acounts of a gang of bullies ten years ago."

He pauses for breath in this rather long explanation.

"It's a bit complicated." he says. "But the important point is I don't know where Jake, Tanya and their daughter are living, because they didn't tell me in the hope that this would stop Jameson harrassing us."

"Ah." Is all charlie can really say to that; he's never had much contact with his sister, or her husband, or any of their children if they've got any.

He doesn't know, really. "Can you file a restraining order against him, to keep him away from you all?" He knows how those work, at least.

"It's in the works." Guppy says.

He hesitated because there are already at least two if not more people with restraining orders to leave him the hell alone.

"I think he's starting to give up anyway."

"If I knew how I could help, I would."

"Thanks. Don't worry about it."

He rubs his knuckles, which are sore from bashing the punchbag.
