(no subject)

It's been a few days since Rorschach's first experience in the bar, and he pauses in the doorway this time, one arm extended to hold the door open.

Behind him, if anyone cares to notice, lies an eerily quiet and somewhat shadier-looking bar than Milliways.

It only takes him a moment to make up his mind, though, and he lets the door swing shut behind him and heads for the Observation Window.

Apparently the bar isn't a dream, and doesn't just exist in Dreiberg's apartment. This means the next logical step is figuring out where it does exist. Hence the solemn window study.

Long story short: There's a short masked man sitting on a table, making the 'thinker' pose at the Observation Window.

He's relatively botherable.

"Nope. The end of the universe."

He hasn't ever sat there and contemplated the Window, to the exclusion of anything else, but it's one of those things you pick up after a few weeks. "Really."

"So I hear. Part of the magic, I'm told."

Charlie knows skeptical. He doesn't mind. If he did he'd be nowhere near as close to Teja. "New?"

"Here there is."

Charlie's going to enjoy watching Rorschach struggle with the concept. And he will struggle sooner or later. "Welcome to Milliways. Meet anyone dead yet?"

He shouldn't ask. But should has never really factored in too much to Charlie's thinking.

There are things that make sense in the normal world, and things that make sense in Milliways. Very few times do those two things happen to coincide. "Oh, you could. They're actually fairly popular here, the ones I know."

Charlie smiles slightly at the 'wait, hold on...' shift in body language. "You must be more than relatively new."

Charlie merely laughs at the bite to the repeated statement. "If you insist, then."
