It's been a few days since Rorschach's first experience in the bar, and he pauses in the doorway this time, one arm extended to hold the door open.

Behind him, if anyone cares to notice, lies an eerily quiet and somewhat shadier-looking bar than Milliways.

It only takes him a moment to make up his mind, though, and he lets the door swing shut behind him and heads for the Observation Window.

Apparently the bar isn't a dream, and doesn't just exist in Dreiberg's apartment. This means the next logical step is figuring out where it does exist. Hence the solemn window study.

Long story short: There's a short masked man sitting on a table, making the 'thinker' pose at the Observation Window.

He's relatively botherable.

Ellen doesn't go near the observation window much. It looks too much like the speculative images Mr. Brotch used to show them of what might've happened after the bombs started falling. Still, sometimes that's the easiest way through the room, and she's just gotten her laser pistol back, so...

... er. That fellow is sitting on the table for some reason. Huh.

"Is everything all right, sir?" asks the gray-haired, jumpsuited young woman.

"No," he replies without looking away from the window.

Even not counting the mysteriously appearing bar, he hasn't had the greatest of days.

"... that was a pretty silly question for me to ask, wasn't it," Ellen says. "My apologies."

This earns her a brief glance. "Hurm."

Then, attention back on the window, "Apocalypse outside, it seems."

Not too far away, Elle is also settled on a table, braiding a lock of blonde hair through her fingers.

She's also staring at Rorschach, not at all bothering to be subtle about it.

He notices.

He does not, however, look away from the window. (Yet.)

"Uhm. Problem?"

Her head tilts, though the braiding doesn't stop.

"Are you wearing that?"

It doesn't sound like a problem, but her voice is so flat that it doesn't quite sound like a question, either.

Now he turns to look at her.

"Wearing what?"

Momiji doesn't have a lot to think about, at the moment. Not a lot that's serious, at least.

But he does have dessert - a little bowl of ice cream with a few cookies propped against the rim - and, apparently, is silly enough to decide to eat it at the same table that the masked figure is sitting on.

"Hiya," he chirrups, as he breezes into a chair, looking up at the man.

The table invasion warrants Momiji actual attention. Rorschach turns to look at him and grunts.

"Hello."

Attention, Momiji thinks, is always a good thing!

(Milliways will probably have to divest him of that belief, at some point. But it hasn't managed, yet!)

"Want a cookie?"

One of the chocolate-chip and M&M-spotted treats is being offered up towards Rorschach, the boy holding the thing between two fingers and wearing a toothy smile.

"They're really good!"

It's a tempting offer; Rorschach has an incredible sweet tooth.

He takes the cookie, delicately, after a moment of consideration.

He doesn't move to eat it, though. Instead he gives it the same sort of concentrated look he's been giving the window.

"It's on a loop," Charlie says quietly, after a few minutes of lazy study of the man in the strange mask.

"A video, then. Or projection."

Rorschach hasn't taken his eyes off the window yet.

"Nope. The end of the universe."

He hasn't ever sat there and contemplated the Window, to the exclusion of anything else, but it's one of those things you pick up after a few weeks. "Really."

"Right outside the window."

Excuse him if he sounds skeptical.

Michael does not, for the moment, choose to bother him, though she does take up a position by the window, tilting her own body halfway toward him.

Her eyes are very green.

And after a moment, she exhales sharply, clearing a few locks of dark hair from her eyes.

"It's an interesting philosophical exercise, isn't it? Watching Armageddon reset itself? Presuming that's what it is, of course."

"Yes," he agrees roughly, without really looking at her. "Could be fake, of course. Building is unaffected."

"It could be fake," Michael says. "But it isn't. Too many people here would know if it were."

So few humans recognize truth when they see it. It's an interesting trait, if occasionally very painful. Or so Michael has observed.

Rorschach transfers his attention to the blur that just sped by, intrigued.
