Enzo's gotten taller again. But even if he hadn't, you might think he had.

Dani finally came back. And he told her what he did. And she still loves him.

He feels taller. He feels the proverbial ten feet, not just an extra inch and a half.

Of course, he's making it up in altitude. Spritechild in the rafters, practising a combination of gymnastics, martial arts footwork, and general exuberant nuttiness. If he loses his balance, he may land in your sandwich. We apologize in advance.

Arnold doesn't have a sandwich, but he is in prime position to be fallen on, if Enzo happens to lose his balance.

And, at the moment, he doesn't realize that Enzo is up there.

Enzo has very good balance. He'd probably be fine if he were truly practising, but he's mostly horsing around right now.

Besides, all else must bow to the laws of comedy.

"Whoop!"

The fall itself goes somewhat as follows:

momentary panic
recovery
twist self to try to land feet-first
duck head in preparation to roll
spot Arnold
really panic

"Look out!"

Arnold moves just in time to prevent Enzo from landing on his head and causing potentially real damage; the way he dives to avoid it, though, means that Enzo lands right on his back.

There is a moment of startled silence on Arnold's end (Enzo knocked the breath right out of him), and then: "Nice landing."

Sarcasm, thy name is Arnold.

"They taught us how to land, not how to land on people." Oof. He rolls himself off the smaller boy. "Sorry."

"Don't worry about it," Arnold says as he sits up and brushes himself off. "I thought you had better balance than that, man."

"I do, I'm just excited!"

Not that his profs would take that as any kind of excuse.

"What happened to get you excited?"

Arnold is happy for him, really. It was sort of depressing to see Enzo down in the dumps.

What else? "She came back!"

"Hey, that's great! Is she still around?"

Arnold figures she's probably back home already, but it's worth asking.

"Nah, not right now. But she can get here now! I mean, we don't know if her new Door's stable yet. But she's not, like, locked out."

Which is an enormous relief in itself.

"Cool! Does that mean you can see each other more often now?"

"Uh-huh! Still less often than we used to, but I'll take it."

"It's nice to see you in a good mood again. You wanna go kick a ball around or something? It's safer than cartwheeling around the rafters..."

You know you want to, Enzo. And Arnold's been practicing his soccer skills!

"Sure!"

To the grounds!

With a pause at the bar for soccerball acquisition!

"Go long, Enzo!"

Arnold's got a good kickin' leg.

Enzo, on the other hand, is an excellent sprinter, and go long he does.

So Arnold gives the soccer ball a good, hard, football-kick-off style kick.

Enzo ought to be able to get it pretty easily--it's a good, well-aimed kick.

He catches it against his shin on a bounce, bumps it to his other foot, and boots it back.

"Good kick!"

Arnold performs a similar move to send it back.

"You, too!"

"Thanks!" Boot. "So, hey, I'm home on break now! Y'wanna come see Mainframe?"

Arnold looks surprised, but still manages to send the ball back.

"I can do that?"

"Sure, didn't I tell you about the digitizer?"

"Yeah, but...I dunno, I just never thought of me doing it."

Sometimes it's easier to think of things in Milliways as...realistic fiction.

Enzo hooks the ball up and bounces it a few times on his knee. "You want to?"

Arnold takes all of about ten seconds to think about this.

"Sure, why not?"

"Sweet!" He kicks the ball back. "Let me know when, we can sneak you in with the tourists."

"How long a visit are we talking?" Arnold juggles the ball with his feet for a few seconds before sending it back this time.

Enzo shrugs. "However long you want. It's not a big system, but there's stuff to do."

"Well, if I'm going to need changes of clothes or something, I could just dash back home and pack a little duffel bag right quick. It's not like time would pass in my world, right?"

"Oh, it shouldn't, but you prob'ly won't need to change clothes much. Sprites don't sweat all the time and stuff."

"So if I don't need anything...we could go right now."

"If you want! But you'd have to wait for me to go see Phong and get you an icon. People'll worry if you don't have one."

"I don't mind," Arnold says. "I guess I should wait here?"

"Or in the house. Oh. But I should ask Dot and Bob first," he adds sheepishly. "It's their guest room."

Arnold snickers. "I can wait," he says again, amused.
