It's happy hour time again and your bartender for the evening is Angelina. She's not exactly a pro at this but she figures how hard can it be to pour a few drink? Plus, she has magic on her side right? Which leads to her choice of specials for the evening...

She leans against the back bar, idly making shot glasses dance across the surface and sipping a firewhiskey until she gets some customers. So have at it folks. She's got all the time in the world...

"I did it to myself. For Draco. See, his wand was taken from him and broken, a lesson in learning how to live without magic. I was away when it happened and found out after he had been like that for a few days. I felt sympathy for him, so I sealed my magic. That way, he wouldn't be as alone. And, before the fight, that did make things a whole lot better for the both of us."

"I'm not sure I could do that... give up my magic, even for someone I love? It's too much a part of who I am."

[gorgonfondness]

"Draco seemed to think the same, was even a bit jealous that I was able to seal it so willingly."

She shrugs a little.

"My mother might have had something to do with that. She can't use her magic anymore and it's possible that will last for the rest of her life. She had already lived without it for about two years at around the time I sealed my magic for Draco."

[capt_angie]

"Why can't she use it anymore? Did she seal it of herself, like you did, or...?"

Or what? She doesn't know so she leaves it hanging.

She shakes her head no.

"Ghaleon did it to her. He put her in a mask that made it physically painful for her mind to remember anything. She was in that mask for a few months while a woman named Xenobia was disguised as her during that time. Once she was finally freed from the mask, almost all of her long term memories, save from me being her daughter and a few scattered memories of her time as one of the Four Heroes, were gone. Sometimes she gets a flash of memory that gives her a headache, but Draco's headache potions have been helping her with those."

"Oh... That must have been awful for you both. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked..."

[gorgonfondness]

"No, it's okay. You didn't know and didn't have any way to know."

She takes a nice, long sip of her drink. And she's very thankful for all of the ginger. This is going next to Demeter's tea in morning sickness remedies.

"Things are a lot better in Vane now. We've had peace for the last five years and it seems it's going to stay that way for some time. Our rebuilding is finishing up and, except for the fact that it's sitting on the ground instead of flying, one wouldn't guess that we had been through a war at all."

[capt_angie]

"Still..."

Only now she's thinking about wars, and about what the one back home cost her and she's gone quite quiet.

[gorgonfondness]

"Hey," Mia says, kindly. "It'll be okay."

[capt_angie]

"So people keep telling me," she says with a wry smile.

[gorgonfondness]

Mia's developed one of those being married to Draco.

"I've been through it, too," she replies. "Twice."

[capt_angie]

"What, war? Once was enough, for me. Not that I've got anything else left to lose after the first one..."

[gorgonfondness]

"War, losing friends and family, destruction, I've felt what those things can do. It's possible to find a happy life after them."

[capt_angie]

"Well, I'm still waiting."
