Happy Hour!
Gus stumbled from his room and makes his way on auto-pilot to the bar. When the napkin appears, it takes Gus fifteen minutes and a cup of coffee before he notices it.
"What?...Oh, come on."
He makes his way to the other side of the bar, fishing about for something to write on the board with.

TODAY'S SPECIAL:
HALF OFF ANYTHING I DON'T HAVE TO MIX
HALF OFF ANYTHING I DON'T HAVE TO MIX
That taken care of, he returns to his coffee and waits.
[[OOC: taking over for tonight, since
Okay, I'm back.

The "We" she's speaking about is in reference to her small but present baby bump.

"Uhhh, no," he says.
Assuming the "we" means that someone else will be joining her shortly, Gus pours two glasses of milk and sets them on the bar.
"There ya go."

"Why'd you-?" she begins, but then she realizes. "Oh! You didn't get my little joke. Or I'm too small for you to tell."
Mia smooths out her husband's shirt over her stomach.
"I was talking about him."
no subject
"I'll just, uhm..."
He takes the second glass, and after a few moments hesitation, pours a bit of the milk into his coffee.

"It's all right. I'm sure I'll want more milk. You didn't have to do that."
She nibbles on one of her Nutter Butters, which happens to be covered in chocolate.
"I've been told it's obvious. I've also been told that I look very pretty the way I am now."
And frankly, she feels pretty.

Really, it's hard to get a rise out of Mia.
"I'm sorry to hear the ex-wife part. What happened?"
Beat.
"If you don't mind telling me, that is. I know it must be quite a personal question. I'm sorry if I offended you."
no subject
"We just...had some problems when I lost my job back in Las Vegas. You know how that goes."
no subject
It might be worth mentioning that Mia's only twenty two and looks it.

He sighs that sigh and looks down at the counter.
He's gotten rather good at that bit.

Jumping slightly, he pulls his wallet from his trousers and opens it to show off a picture.
"This is them."
no subject
Mia really needs a wallet for her pictures. They're all going to get crushed in her pocket.
"This is my husband Draco and me," she says, showing him the first picture.
The next picture is of a toddler with tan skin, blonde hair, and fangs.
"That's our niece Rachel. She'll be two this autumn. Right now, she's wondering why Auntie Mia's tummy is getting bigger."
no subject
"I never had any nieces or nephews," Gus says. "Well, I didn't. I might now, for all I know. I've been a bit out of touch lately."
That's understating things just a bit.

He bites his lip lightly and looks aside for a moment.

"Yeah, well. There are worse things to be."
He smiles. It's not exactly an innocent smile, but it's not sinister or threatening, either.
no subject
"For better or worse, my family has that, too. Sort of."
She waves her hand in a sort of way to match.
"My kind of stepfather, now he was no good in his later years."
no subject
Gus is interested, now. This kind-of-stepfather sounds like his sort of guy.
no subject
"He was the reason behind a lot of corruption in our local government. My mother used to be in charge, but she had to retire after he had attacked her mind. After that, he started a world war in a mad attempt to achieve godhood that nearly destroyed everything."

She didn't always like how they stopped him, but it was simply what needed to be done. Some people can't be stopped any other way.
no subject
Gus can't help but feel disappointed in the slight anti-climax there.

Where Mia helped kill the man who read her bedtime stories and picked her flowers from the garden.
She doesn't like going into detail.
"It...weighs heavy on my mind sometimes. And I know, sooner or later I'll have to tell him why he only has one grandfather."
