The doctor is in. In the bar, that is-- sitting at the bar, rubbing his eyes with tiredness and drinking what appears to be an extremely intense energy drink. He's left his microscopic goggles on, absent-mindedly.
Someone might want to let him know why the table appears to be so close.

Yeesh. Hasn't she ever seen a proper villain before?
no subject
She mostly finds them annoying.
"Those aren't the science part?"
no subject
He stops, stares at her suspiciously.
"Why all the questions?"
no subject
This seems reasonable to her.
no subject
He coughs, slightly self-conscious.

This could be true. Even if the description would probably be accurate for most of the scientists Elle knows, she wouldn't think to use the label.

"Are there a lot of them?"

That makes sense.
"So you just... dress like that and... are in your league thing?"
Maybe he also has experiments. But he seems a little focused on the 'image' thing.

He's very proud of this. "I've made lots of advancements. Right now, I'm working on a teleportation machine and something that will help me never have to sleep."
He gestures eloquently to the drink. "I usually use myself as the guinea pig, of course."
no subject
But what she asks is: "You need a machine to teleport?"
no subject
"Well. Not need. Just... makes things convenient."
no subject
(Like Elle.)
"No one in your world just - does it?"
no subject
no subject
"Okay."
Apparently, that's all she thinks she needs to say on the matter.

Pause.
She clarifies, completely unabashed, "I don't."
no subject
After a moment: "What do you do?"
no subject
But quickly enough, she lifts one of her newly-repaired hands, her fingers curling slightly around her palm. It takes a few seconds, but bright, blue-white sparks start snapping between her fingers, before becoming numerous enough to gather into a small, crackling sphere above her palm.
no subject
"That's... beautiful."
no subject
After a few seconds, she lets the sparks go out, and closes her hand again.
"No one does that, either?"
no subject
He blinks, recollects himself.
"No. Unless you count static shock."
no subject
"That's not what I do."
