Without quite knowing how, or why, Olive has managed to find the bar again. She sits in a booth by the door--
(No, for your information she hasn't been watching the door whenever she comes here, ever since Chuck said "Ned's around, some days."
Or maybe she has. Whatever.)
-- Anyway, see the lonely heroine, yonder: sitting. sighing. Drinking a glass of lemonade, and looking generally desolate.
Say hi.

Bwoop eep? says D0G, peering inquisitively at the young woman and her beverage.
no subject
Well? Weirder things have happened in Milliways.
no subject
D0G's sense of personal space is not always what it should be.
no subject
Dripping with lemonade, she looks up.
And up.
no subject
For a nine-foot-tall droid with no real facial features to speak of, D0G does an impressive job of looking very small and contrite.
woop?

On the other hand, Olive's attempt at being a small, scared human is quite good.

hmmmmmmmm goes the zero-point energy gun built into his forearm, and the glass shards are sucked up off the ground to levitate in front of his hand. He drops them, carefully, on the table and looks hopefully at Olive.
no subject
"Thanks," she says, cautiously.

- to be fair, she's quite low to the ground, and also pretty tired, so it's possible the fact that this is someone's shoe hasn't quite sunk in yet.
no subject
Still, her subconscious mind directs her to shift her leg. Olive proceeds to do so.

Aaaand Duck registers that she has actually been bumping into a person. Uh. Oops?
"Quack quack," she says apologetically, scuttling sheepishly backwards.

Duck peers up at her, suddenly hopeful. Does she possibly speak duck? That might make communication easier!
Can you understand me? she asks hopefully, which of course comes out as "Quack quack quack quack?"
no subject
"I'm sorry, I don't know what you're saying."
no subject
"Quack, quack" she says, wistfully, and spreads out her wings in an avian approximation of a shrug. It's okay . . . no one else can either . . .
no subject
(She didn't know this was, in fact, possible to detect. Well. You learn something new every day.)
She leans down. "Were you sleeping in my shoe?"

He might have noticed Olive a little while ago, but hadn't had the courage to greet her.
(Until now.)
After all, Milliways is a pretty big deal.
no subject
"Hiya, Ned!"
no subject
Spills are terrible, horrible things.
Especially when spills start to land on the floor.
But he musters a smile.
"Chuck told me you'd found this place."
no subject
"Yeah, uh, found it a little while ago."
no subject
He reaches over, practically looming over Olive, to grab a couple of napkins himself.
no subject
"It's been an interesting experience."
no subject
He leans forward slightly to help soak up some of the lemonade.
no subject
She tries not to inhale his scent too obviously.
"How would you put it?"
