Munch stops as he steps through the door. His wardrobe hasn't changed (thankfully, or else tending bar tonight would be a real pain in the ass), but he hasn't completely escaped unscathed. Pinned to the lapel of his sport coat is an orange pumpkin pin with flashing lights.

Rolling his eyes he pulls off the coat, only for the pin to disappear and reappear pinned to his shirt. "Oh, for Pete's sake."

"Neither one, actually," Munch responds. "Been coming in for almost three years, and I've had the bartending gig for about a year and a half. Somehow I have this tendency to get scheduled on holidays."

He's just waiting for the day he gets stuck tending bar as a Muppet.

He cocks his head. "Which holiday is it this time? Sorry, but things don't always happen to me in order, so I lose track easily."

"Halloween." Though Munch doesn't know how he could have missed it, with the multitude of costumes in the Bar. Then again, given how many places the Door opens up to... "Which means you're a very lucky man if you didn't get stuck with some costume or transformation the minute you came in."

Now the Doctor looks around and notices for the first time all the costumes. "Ah, right. Well, I guess it's just because I came in while she was sleeping. I got to be Casanova last year."

The detective chuckles, placing the requested tea on the bar top. "Compared to most around here, I got off easy." He flicks the pumpkin pin attached to his shirt, its eyes still cheerfully flashing away.

They've got to run out of battery power sometime.

The Doctor grins. "She still needed you to tend bar. Hard to do in costume. Well, depending on the costume, of course."

"Yeah; I could have wound up dressed as one of those Keystone Kops or something," Munch agrees with a chuckle.

[just_the_doctor]

"Oh, Keystone Kops were brilliant!" he says happily. "All that running about. Didn't seem to accomplish much, but just brilliant to watch."

Somehow the thought Is this guy for real? can help running through Munch's head. "I'd like to think my partners and I are a bit more affective than those guys were," he comments dryly.

The Doctor smiles and nods. "Ah, police, are you? Can't say I've had much use for them on the whole. Too quick to try and solve everything with guns."

"Yes, I am; Detective-Sergeant specifically." Munch tries not to bristle, but this guy's pushed some buttons. He'd like to think he doesn't have as bad a hair trigger as this guy is insinuating.

"Detectives are usually better than average," he grants. "At least you've been trained to use your mind a little first."

"...Thanks, I...think," Munch replies.

"Then again, most humans just aren't equipped to cope adequately with the sorts of problems I tend to be dealing with when they cross my path. The really smart ones realize that and let me get on with it. But most of the time, they just get in my way."
