Sam is feeling... worse. So much for flushing whatever this is out of his system.
He's currently in a chair by the fire, alternating between filming things with a camera the Bar gave him this morning and... wondering what in the Abyss the thing is supposed to be; it's safe to say there's nothing like it in Bistort.
Watch out for the occasional sneeze.

(OOC: Subject to random bouts of slowtime throughout the day, but open until his next EP, which will likely be Thursday sometime.)

"Maureen cheated!"

"Fuckin' cheated."

In a fury, Alyx half-drops, half-flings Sam on the ground.

"I'm defeated, I should give up right now!"

Even sick, he's resilient. And he's got very good reflexes, which means he's on his feet before she's through the line.

"Gotta look on the bright side with all of your might--"

"I'd fall for her still anyhow."

And they're both singing again, at least for a while.

"When you're dancing her dance
You don't stand a chance
Her grip of romance makes you fall..."

Sam shrugs. "So you think, might as well--"

"--dance a tango to Hell--"

Together:

"Why do we love when she's mean?"

"And she can be so obscene?"

...He has no idea what that's supposed to mean (not that that's new, at the moment).

Alyx blinks.

"What mic?"

"...I don't know."
Sam sinks back into his chair, and facepalms. "I... honestly have no idea what that was all about. My apologies."

Alyx sags back into her own chair, her face turning rather red. "Don't apologize. This has been happening to me all week."

"All week?"
...Sinking feeling, as they say, is sinking. "You haven't been ill, by chance, have you?"

"Yes. I've picked up this weird strain of flu. It seems to affect everyone differently, though. My fiancé had it last month and he kept babbling in German..."

"Well, that would explain the scarf, at least. And the..."
He trails off, and waves the camera about in a manner that would probably give the genuine article's owner a heart attack. "The... this thing. I'm going between using it like I have all my life and having no idea what it is."

"I think it's an old hand-crank movie camera," says Alyx thoughtfully. "I've never seen one intact before..."

"...What, like the things with the pinholes?"
Someone's world doesn't have much in the way of technology.

"...sort of," says Alyx. "Only much, much more sophisticated. And complicated. And you're gonna break it if you keep swinging it around like that."

"...Right." The camera's rightful owner takes hold long enough that Sam sets the thing down - very carefully.
"If I've a whole week of this to look forward to, I... think I'll be staying here."

"Probably a good idea," says Alyx. "You know about the rental rooms upstairs, right?"

"I think someone had mentioned that. I'll have to look into it."
If he'd found Cata by now, he might ask to share her room, if she has one - but he doesn't know if she's had to deal with this plague or not.

"On that note," says Alyx, "I'd probably better go up and take a nap. I'm obviously not as close to being over this flu as I thought I was."

She stands up. "It was nice meeting you--ah--?"

"Call me Sam." At least he's sure of himself for long enough to make the introduction.
"And you as well, though hopefully next time, it'll be under... more coherent circumstances."
He likes knowing what he's talking about.

"I'm Alyx," she says with a friendly smile. "See you around."
