Carlotta is in the main bar, with her school report.

She has to laugh, just a little, when she sees her French result. Because of a certain bet she has with a certain king in the forge.

She looks around for him; she'll try outside if he's not in.

"Impossible," Teja says. "I know nothing of it."

"I could teach you."

[ostro_goth]

"Pointless," Teja says. "We should not waste our time like this, but rather go get peaches."

"All right." Carlotta says.

"Did you, um, speak to Demeter?"

[ostro_goth]

"I did," Teja says. "And Charlie came back, also."

[fiery_ring]

"And did you talk to him?"

[ostro_goth]

"About you?" Teja says. "No."

[fiery_ring]

"But things are all right?"

[ostro_goth]

"Yes," Teja says. "Whatever irks me is in our own natures. I can bear up with it."

[fiery_ring]

Carlotta nods.

"All right. But if you need to hear his side, I shouldn't have stopped you."

[ostro_goth]

"Carlotta," Teja says. "I can live with things as they are. I need not unsettle anything, as it is now."

[fiery_ring]

Carlotta nods.

"Sorry." she says. "I wasn't trying to unsettle you."

[ostro_goth]

"No, you did not," Teja says. "I asked, did I not? But I spoke to Demeter, and it helped greatly."

[fiery_ring]

"That's good, she gives good advice."

[ostro_goth]

"Indeed," Teja says. "And always has done, even since before I realised I knew her."

[fiery_ring]

"...how does that work?"

[ostro_goth]

"I met her while I was alive, but didn't know who she was," Teja says.

[fiery_ring]

"Really? When did that happen?"

[ostro_goth]

"During the reign of Witichis," Teja says. "I returned to the place where my parents' home once stood, to grieve for all that was lost. There, I met her."

[fiery_ring]

"And she remembered, but you didn't?"

[ostro_goth]

"She only told me after we knew each other a while, here," Teja says.

[fiery_ring]

"That must have been... odd for you both."

[ostro_goth]

"I doubt anything of that sort is ever odd for Demeter," Teja says.

[fiery_ring]

"Awkward then." Carlotta says. "Like if I was to find out one of you two met me as a little girl."

[ostro_goth]

"Awkward for me," Teja says, "but not for Demeter. She is very patient."
