Door swings open, a pale girl walks in. New clothes, same blank expression, a book in her hands, the first thing the Fledgling does is check the sign she left, and then move to a seat.

Definitely not by the fireplace or the observation window, both being way too distracting and at times unnerving: a nice booth will do.

The book holds her attention for all of three minutes, before she closes it and focuses on people-watching.

"Then your kind can do it," Teja says. "Just as the one who was my lover did."

"Or she might be crazy and compulsive." The Fledgling grins. "Just because she can do it, and seems to enjoy doing, does not mean she enjoys... at least the way the living do."

"Complicated," Teja says.

Beat.

"My lover enjoyed it; that much was certain."

[hoopsonfire]

"Good, then." She nods. "Maybe he did not feel the Hunger as I do."

[ostro_goth]

"He does," Teja says. "But once he has fed, he has a mind for other things, also."

[hoopsonfire]

"So he does not feel the hunger the same way. I'm always hungry... and thirsty; just when full, I can ignore it easily."

"Drinking fresh, warm blood feels better than sex ever did when I was alive."

"I'm not going to ask you to feed from me," Teja says. "I have another beloved now, and will not share any pleasure with any other."

She nods, but is a bit disappointed.

The Fledgling was curious. "I see."

"It is important to me to be faithful," Teja says.

[hoopsonfire]

She nods once more, waving over a waitrat and ordering a bottle of the blood substitute. Not going to contest or argue Teja's principles.

Teja looks at her, almost a bit sorry, and shrugs.

He has his principles. And faithfulness comes before feeding hungry strangers.-
