Bill is downstairs after some breakfast. He sits down at the counter, and before he can even ask, Bar provides him with a loaded plate; eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, a short stack of pancakes, a cup of coffee and orange juice.

Bill grins at the offering, and is about to say thank you when a newspaper appears. Looking at the front page headline his smile falls.

Mardi Gras in Miami

It's not really the headline, but the part underneath that tells how the Saints defeated the Colts 31-17 in the Superbowl that's just killed his good mood.

Bill lifts the paper and shakes his head.

"Aw, c'mon, no. I didn't even know they were playin'."

"That does sound pretty helpful, wait 'til they get a little older," Bill says with a chuckle. "Boo runs me ragged a lot of days."

Bill learned quickly that the energy of a three year old is boundless, and he's totally grateful for Kate's help with the toddler.

"That just means you will need less practice later, when you have more." The Devil winks. "Just pray you do not get twins... or triplets."

He gulps his last bite, swallowing hard, then forces a chuckle.

"That would-- wow, I can't even imagine that."

It wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, but he'd be in trouble for sure.

"I am sure you would do wonderfully, Bill..." Oh, right, she is biased there, about his capabilities.

"You're just sayin' that t'be nice, but I appreciate it."

Bill knows, or thinks he knows, how out of his depth he is here.

Actually he does pretty well, and maybe one day he'll let himself be convinced of that.

"Actually, I am saying that because I believe in you, Sheriff." The Devil smirks a bit. "I can almost see you passed out on the couch with three babies on your arms..."

The image makes him smile, and wonder just a bit if she knows something he doesn't. She is the Devil after all, and he knows that she has powers.

"I'd be scared as hell," he admits, embarrassed, "but, I know I'd be happy, too."

She clears her throat, and speaks on a reasonable imitation of Kate's sleepy voice. "Bill... the girls are crying... it's your turn..." And back to her normal voice. "Then you get gently shoved out of bed for diaper duty."

"And wait until they turn fifteen..."

"Well now you're tryin' t'freak me out."

And doing a fair job of it if one follows that nervous tremor in his laugh.

"How'd you do Kate's voice like that?"

"I talked with her once. I can copy anyone I've met at least once... at least in voice and looks. Mannerisms demand a bit of time and observation."

"I am The Devil after all, and sometimes possessing a mortal is too much trouble."

"Oh." It's a little unnerving to know she could change into Kate, but at this point he trusts her not to.

"I always seem t'learn somethin' new 'bout you when we meet."

It's interesting, and honestly, pretty cool.

"Mutable form. I can be anything, anyone... this is just the shape I am more comfortable with."

"It's been weird enough for me lookin' like a few other people 'round here, but bein' able t'look like anyone?"

He glances at the bar and the various people around.

"That'd be crazy, but pretty cool, too, I s'pose."

Not that he'd want to have that power himself, no thank you.

"And I am off-duty here, so I do not impersonate people to create confusion." See how nice she is?

He gives a wry kind of smile, glancing around.

"I uh, I might've a time or two. Just for fun."

"And now you see how I am good at resisting temptation." Next time he blinks, The Devil will have changed... hair up in a ponytail, black tank top, leather jacket and pants.

Nice high heeled boots. "See? Just a change of clothes."

He blinks, then blinks again at the change.

"Wow. I got no idea how y'do it, but it's neat."

"Well, Bill, technically speaking, I am this..." Her forms vanishes, replaced bu a large, bright light. Her voice takes on a haunting tone. "Fallen or not, I am an angel, and if we are going to nitpick, angels do not have a defined form."

The Devil then recomposes herself to normal. "So, I can take on a human shape to make dealing with humans easier."

Shielding his eyes against the light, he ducks his head. When it's gone again he looks up slowly, dazed by what he's just seen.

"I uh, I guess with angels I always had the white feathers an' robes image in my head."

"Oh, I can do that too, if you would prefer?" She is always ready to indulge someone she likes.

"Nah, that's alright." He doesn't want to come off as stupid and annoying by asking her to show off for him.

"So this form y'got now, is it someone you met once?"

"Oh, no, I picked it myself when I moved to San Francisco in the sixties. Something classy, something attractive, something... with style."

"It's nice," he comments before his mind thinks about what he's saying.

"I mean, uh, y'know-- I-- well, yeah. It's nice."

He flounders, then sticks to his own words. Taking them back would be rude, and it's obviously not a come on so... yeah.

She laughs a bit, hugging him and kissing his cheek. "Oh, Bill, relax... you really think I will misunderstand you and do something inappropriate?"

"No, I'm just bein' foolish."

He laughs at himself as his cheeks warm.
