A young woman in a labcoat walks in, her nose buried in a medical textbook as she bites her thumb thoughtfully.

When the change in noise from where she's come from registers, however, she looks up. Eyes go wide.

"...Oh my God. Who the hell put a bar in the students' lounge?"

Welcome to Milliways, Miss Martha Jones.

[OOC: Martha is currently just pre-canon! She's completely free to tag by everyone and anyone, but all I ask is that nobody mention the Doctor to her, please.]

"The same folk who put a bar in my barracks," an Hispanic woman in her late twenties comments from a table. She doesn't look like a medical student; what she looks like, even dressed in shorts and a tank-top, is a soldier.

Which...she is. She might not wear dog-tags, but it's obvious what she is.

Even with a cast on her left lower leg.

Trudy gets a curious once-over.

"...Does this happen a lot, then?"

She's stocky, fit, but with dark circles under her eyes and some bruises on her arms (you try crashing a helicopter-type-thing without any injury). And there is that cast which although might be from the future is still obviously a cast.

Also, crutches leaning against the table.

"Uh, depends? I mean, I only had this place show up a couple months ago, and it's random when it does. It's a weird...wormhole type deal, I think." Accent obviously American, too.

"So it's alien?"

She sounds surprisingly not-all-that-surprised about this.

"...yeah, I'm guessin' so."

"...Okay then."

Martha marks her page, then tucks the textbook under her arm.

"But you're human, right?"

"Unless my momma lied to me, yep. Trudy Chacon, and welcome to Milliways."

"Martha Jones." She offers her the hand not supporting her book. "Um, pleased to meet you."

Trudy shakes her hand. "Pleased to meetcha, too. The first drink is free, by the way."

"Only the first?" Pfft, this place. "If they're gonna put an alien bar in a hospital, they shouldn't just give one free drink."

Trudy laughs her snickery, witch's cackle.

"Hospital is it, for you? But, hey, that's the rules for ya."

"Can't blame a girl for trying, though, right?"

She tugs the labcoat a little self-consciously. "I'm a student doctor."

"Aaah, yeah, you'd be from somewhere else. Didn't think I recognized you from the scientists on base."

Curious, "You're from an army base? Where?"

"Pandora."

Beat.

"If y'heard of it. Might be from the wrong time."

Martha shakes her head. "Doesn't ring a bell. I'm from London."

"What time? I mean, what's the date for you?"

"2007."

Beat.

"What about for you?"

"Twenty-one fifty."

"...You're joking."

"Nope."

She stares at Trudy for a moment, then slowly breaks out into a grin.

"That is so cool."

She grins back. "So, Pandora's a moon in the Alpha Centuri system. Didn't get discovered until this century."

Curiously, "What's it like?"

Trudy's silent for a moment, and rubs the shell around her neck between thumb and forefinger.

"Beautiful," she says at last. "Earth don't really have any green left, but Pandora's full of jungles and plains and wild creatures. But it's dangerous, too." She gestures to her leg with a nod of her head. "Got that in a-a I suppose you'd call 'em a type of helicopter. Well, we got flung about by one of the flying aliens, and crashed."

Her co-pilot died. So did a number of other people.

"But, wouldn't swap it for all of Earth."
