"That would match up with what I've heard of him," Annabelle says with a nod. "The world always needs people like him, to stand up to the cruel and unjust."

"And people like us to lend a hand and back them up." Annabelle's not a leader type, and she knows it.

"Aye. Who did ye follow?"

"Maxwell Mercer was the man who had the idea to found the Æon Society," Annabelle explains. "We were a group of people who were determined to use our unusual powers to help humanity rather than prey upon it."

"Doesna sound that different from me Kate's 'vengers."

"It seems to crop up quite a bit," Annabelle agrees. "I'm glad of that, frankly. I don't like to think of worlds with people like me and nobody willing to stand up for what's right."
