Guppy is enjoying not having to watch his back, and is looking refreshed and relaxed today. No Urquhart to bother him. No nasty administrator at work. He's even finished his paperwork.

He's now sitting with Carlotta, who was also at a loose end, playing what appears to be a Milliways version of Guess Who. Or so it would sound from the questions.

Carlotta peers at her game board for a moment, then asks.

"Are you human or human-like in appearance?"

"No."

Carlotta flicks down some of the little pictures.

Anyone else want to play? They're close to the end of the game.

"Right," Gus says. "Got it."

It's not that he doesn't believe Guppy. It's just that... well, being a honest man is boring.

"Bet you could easily find people here to gamble with though."

"Last time I gambled here with someone I didn't know, it didn't end on such a good note," Gus says. "And they ran off with all the cash."

"I guess that's the risk." Guppy says. "Especially if you were accused of cheating."

"They had no proof," Gus insists.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Oh, sorry, I was speaking theoretically."

"You sure apologise a whole bunch," Gus says, slightly bemused. "What is that?"

[guppy_sandhu]

Shrug. "General lack of self confidence?"

[thanksrainman]

"You're a doctor," Gus points out.

Somehow, this great leap of logic makes sense to him.

"Yes, but as a doctor you have to be very polite."
