Guppy is enjoying not having to watch his back, and is looking refreshed and relaxed today. No Urquhart to bother him. No nasty administrator at work. He's even finished his paperwork.

He's now sitting with Carlotta, who was also at a loose end, playing what appears to be a Milliways version of Guess Who. Or so it would sound from the questions.

Carlotta peers at her game board for a moment, then asks.

"Are you human or human-like in appearance?"

"No."

Carlotta flicks down some of the little pictures.

Anyone else want to play? They're close to the end of the game.

Curious, Data walks over to watch. He is not familiar with this game.

"May I ask what it is you are playing?"

"It's called Guess Who." Guppy says. "You have a set number of cards and you try and guess which card your opponant has with a series of yes-no questions."

To Carlotta. "Are you fluffy?"

"Yes." She says.

Guppy puts down all the pictures that aren't fluffy.

"Intriguing," Data says. "May I join you?"

"Please do. It's a two player game but soon as we're done you can play the winner if you like. I'm Dr Guppy Sandhu."

"And I'm Carlotta Brown." Carlotta says.

"It is a pleasure to meet you both. I am Lieutenant Commander Data."

He pulls up a chair, turning his attention back to the game. "I think I would prefer to observe another round before attempting to play myself."

"Okay." Guppy says, letting Carlotta have her turn.

"Are you metallic?"

"Yes. Are you a demonic bunny."

"Yes, you win." Carlotta shows her card.

They reset the board and shuffle the cards.

Data is confused. "What is a 'demonic bunny'?"

"One of the rabbits outside." Guppy says. "Are you new here?"

Carlotta starts this time.

"Are you male?"
"Yes. Are you female?"
"No. Do you have dark hair?"
"Yes. Do you have any piercings?"
"... none that I can see on the picture. Do you always carry weapons?"
"Yes. Do you have dark hair?"
"No." Carlotta hesitates, then asks. "Are you pulling this grim face?"

She pulls a grim face. Guppy smirks.

"Yes. Are you human?"
"Yes. Are you Teja?"

"Yes. How did you get that so fast?"
"There's only one pulling that face."

Data is too absorbed in the game to answer until after it is finished. "Yes, I am," he says. "I have not been outside the bar yet. You are saying, then, that the rabbits in Milliways are metallic?"

Gus watches them play from the next table over, casually going through a small stack of newspapers.

"What the hell are you two doing?" he asks after a while.

"It's a game." Guppy says. "Hey Gus."

Carlotta gives him a nod.

"Weird kinda game," Gus says.

He spots something in the newspaper, but after a few moments reading, it's apparently not what he's looking for.

"What's it do?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"You have to guess who's on the other's card." Guppy says. "By eliminating the others with yes-no questions."

"Does your character have piercings?" he asks Carlotta.

"Yes. Does yours have a fringe?"

"No."

Actually, this seems a hell of a lot more interesting than searching for leads on a case that's all but been closed and forgotten.

"What's a fringe?" he asks.

He'd call it 'bangs.'

"Short hair at the front." Carlotta says. "I'm Carlotta by the way."

"Is your character currently or was recently pregnant?" Guppy asks her.

"Yes."

"Gus," he says. Guppy may notice that he's more or less dropped his last name. No sense in really keeping up the façade any more, really.

"So, what? You just... guess the cards?"

He tries to think up an equivalent, but fails.

"Yep. Well you try and beat the other person by narrowing it down by as many cards as possible."

"Nice to meet you Gus." Carlotta says. "Dr Sandhu, are you wearing a super hero mask?"

"Yes. Are you female?"

"No."

"Hm," Takumi grumbles. "I want to play."

"You can if you like Takumi." Guppy says, waving him over. "Do you know how to play?"

"Cards, questions. Simple enough."

"I have to do some french prep anyway." Carlotta says, getting up. "You two go on ahead."

Guppy resets the board and gestures for Takumi to join him.

"Here, pick a card." He holds them out upside down.

Guppy takes one and puts it in the groove in his board.

"Would you like to start?"
