"Oh, you're kidding me..."

Those are the first words out of Mia's mouth once she realizes the door leading out of the nursery has been replaced by the door to Milliways.

Cepheus, you see, is hungry, and he's making it known that he's hungry with his not-so-subtle tugs on Mama's top and his fussing. She was actually just stepping out with him because she had forgotten his blanket in the living room.

Mia quickly picks one up from Miss Bar, makes sure the baby doesn't leave her indecent, and finds the restrooms to tend to his needs. She leaves some time later with a mostly-happy and mostly-asleep baby and makes her way to an armchair by the fireplace.

[OOC: Not plotlocked, but waiting for a particular thread and working on a project, so spotty tagging until I'm done. Feel free to run into Mia at any point, even if it means embarrassing the living daylights out of her.]

Caring for the baby? Yes it is. But,

"The way you put it—"

"—Made it sound as if—"

"—Something else more eventful had come up."

"A baby isn't eventful enough?"

"It is."

Pause.

"Maybe we're just used to 'eventful' being 'over and above' what we normally do in a day."

"Oh, but every day is a new day for a baby, bringing new things for both him and his parents to learn."

"One could say the same thing for adults."

Pause. Amused smiles.

"Actually there's a motivational poster with something very similar written on it."

Which was promptly parodied by one of the workstaff.

He got a hidden bonus for it.

"Motivational poster?"

"Beautiful picture—"

"—Usually captioned with something—"

"—Positive yet ultimately—"

"—Very shallow."

Pause.

"Some people like them."

Usually they're the kinds of people whose jobs will be performed by robots in the near future.

"Huh. Seems rather pointless."

"We feel that way, too, but..."

It's hard to argue against something that popular. Mostly because being popular means dealing with a lot of defenders.

They're not worried. Those people will all be replaced by robots some day.

Mia just shrugs in agreement.

"So. It sounds like you and Cepheus are doing well. However—"

"—If you do need assistance in the future our offer to you still stands."

"Well, thank you very much for that."

"You are quite welcome. We—"

"—Are always happy to help out where we can."

Usually "help out" begins and ends with "helping themselves", but they're always willing to make exceptions for the good of Keeping Up Appearances.
