Jean-Luc Picard enters the holodeck doors, decked out in his Dixon Hill outfit, ready to become his favorite detective. When he's dumped into a bar full of patrons that don't all look human or dressed for the era, he's confused, but decides to play along. That's why he'll be found by the fireplace, watching the goings-on with great interest.

"This could all be a well-detailed hologram." Picard is incredibly stubborn.

"Why would you choose to enter into something that you don't know what it is."

"I thought I knew what it was! I thought it was a holobook, a retelling of old Dixon Hill novels where you can play the main character. Hence my introducing myself to you as Hill, instead of myself!"

That's confusing.

"So who are you really?"

Moist is smirking ever so slightly, its so nice when someone else ends up lying.

"Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise." He offers a hand. "I'm from the 23rd century, Earth, if such things mean anything to you."

Moist shakes his hand with a strong handshake,

"The Earth part does, but only because most people here seem to be from there."

"I see. And where are you from?" He nods toward Alfred.

"The Disc, I'm currently traveling towards Ankh-Morpork."

Picard is thinking galaxies. "Ah. Is Ankh-Morpok a planet?"

"No, its the largest city probably on the Disc but definitely in the Sto-Lat plains."

"It's a planet called the Disc? Unusual."

"Well, it is a disc carried on the backs of four elephants who rest on a great turtle that swims through space."

Picard raises an eyebrow and stares at Alfred.

"Is something wrong?"

"That just sounds extremely outlandish."

"It might sound that way, but I assure you its real."

"Well, it must be if you're standing here." Do not violate the Prime Directive, do not violate the Prime Directive

"Exactly and I'm sure its not that much stranger than the fact we're at the end of the universe."

"Fair enough." Picard nods. "You're correct, and I apologize."

"I wouldn't worry about it. This is a very odd place after all."

Is it ever.

"That's certainly putting it mildly." He chuckles a bit.

"Well, the drinks are good and many of the women are quite beautiful so it can't be all that bad."

Picard chuckles again. "That certainly sounds worth it."

"I think it is."
