Jean-Luc Picard enters the holodeck doors, decked out in his Dixon Hill outfit, ready to become his favorite detective. When he's dumped into a bar full of patrons that don't all look human or dressed for the era, he's confused, but decides to play along. That's why he'll be found by the fireplace, watching the goings-on with great interest.

Picard watches the girl thoughtfully, an appraising look on his face. "And you know how to take care of yourself, do you?"

"Yeah. Have been doing that for the past eight years." And a bit more.

"I'm sorry to hear it." There's something about this kid that Picard can't quite put his finger on.

"Not asking for pity. You asked if I take care of myself, and I answered." Of course, her worse side was assuming Picard was planning to 'put the kid in her place'.

He might not want to put a finger anywhere near her psyche.

It bites.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend. I didn't know what else to say."

The mun will keep this in mind!

Well, The Agency did ant to make her someone who enjoyed building weapons of war. Someone who enjoyed causing misery and obeyed them completely.

It was a partial success.

"Introductions and less assumptions would be nice."

"My apologies. I am Dixon Hill." He offers a hand.

She accepts the hand, smiling a bit. "Jordan Kennedy." With her human hand.

"First time here, then, nobody told you the rules of the place?"

"No," he says. "What rules? This isn't a standard bar?"

"Anything but standard." Jordan grins. "You are in a dimensional pocket at the last stable point of the continuum ."

"The End of the Universe." Nope, she is not going to make it easy for the newcomer.

"And I thought you were joking when you were talking about monsters."

"Actually, I was being nice. There's demons and gods and worse stuff here too: the Bar does not discriminate at all with who it lets in."

"So how do you keep beings from destroying one another?" Picard is intensely curious.

"Well, I don't. And have no idea how Security does, if it does, since they can't be everywhere at once." That amuses Jordan. "Guess the place did not get the right catalyst in to go up in flames."

"Yet."
