"No, see--" Duo waves his spoon at River for emphasis, and then hastily lowers it before ice cream drips onto the couch. "Real cherries are acceptable. Maraschino cherries are an abomination. It's an important distinction!"
River eats a sprinkle with her fingers, looking dubious. "It's a paradigmatic rewriting," she informs him. "Got extra sugar."
So, to sum up: River and Duo have a couch shared between them, a fairly epic ice cream sundae apiece, and a lot of precisely constructed paper airplanes strewn around them. (Some have physics equations written on them.) Come say hi!
[OOC: Two muns, two characters! Feel free to tag them together, or to arrange your timing so one of them just went back to the bar or something.]

She... okay, she is a friend to many jerks, although she tends to scold them for being too mean.
But Duo is not actually one of that category.

"...but I don't even-"
Wait.
Wait a minute.
"Who was I mean to again?"
no subject
She has learned, since her unfortunate summer dealing with the bullies in Haven, that being straightforward and unflinching is the way to go.
Oh. But he's sitting on the couch with River. Which probably means they are friends.
"I'm sorry I have to call out your friend, River. But he wasn't very nice."

River's face, yet again, is eloquent; this is what happens when you start out expressive and then lose most of your ability to hide your emotions. Right now, it's saying something like oh, for pity's SAKE.
Or, more succinctly: >.<
Faintly exasperated: "Puck likes attention."
River doesn't dislike Puck, though she feels it isn't good for his ego to tell him that. But -- seriously, Puck? Seriously?
no subject
"Ingress. Look. Puck is my friend. Usually, anyway." This sounds reluctantly admitted, but is probably true.
"I don't know what he was telling you, but I don't go around trying to be mean to people."
no subject
"Right," Ingress huffs. "Of course, you'd say that. River, has Duo been your friend a long time or a short time?"
She didn't know River knew Puck. What did that mean - 'he likes attention'? It certainly doesn't seem kind, but River's not mean to people for no reason.
No one likes Puck but her, it seems. And Havelock, of course.
(Although she's never seen her teacher and her friend in the same place together. So... surely Havelock likes Puck back? Oh, dear.)
no subject
She's looking faintly frustrated, but it's not at Ingress -- it's at words, and a little at Puck. (But mostly at words.)
"Puck," she says. "Too."
"He's a dummy. It's in the the friendship architecture."
no subject
"I know you don't know me, or have any reason to believe me," Duo says. "But I don't actually lie. Especially not about important stuff."
no subject
River called Puck a dummy. She doesn't understand the bit about the friendship architecture, but she understands dummy.
"So- you don't like Puck, River?"
She looks to Duo. "But you say you're his friend?"
It's easier when things are clear cut.

Her face tightens, and her eyes drop to her sundae; her fingers shift in tiny twitches against the spoon.
"I do," she says, low, and glances back in the general direction of Ingress's face.
"Don't tell. He's still a dummy."
no subject
"About Havelock?"
no subject
She is not sure what is going on, but she doesn't like it!
no subject
"Puck was mad because I told him I knew he was in love with Havelock."
no subject
"But- that doesn't make much sense."
Oh, Ingress. Welcome to being friends with Puck.
no subject
"It's a feature," she mutters.
Honestly, Puck.
To Ingress, and less under her breath, she says, "Thinks he's a man of mystery. The obviousness is problematic."
no subject
To people who have known him for a few years, away. Puck is admittedly inscrutable to many, but when you've had hair pulling fights with the guy, he's easier to read.
no subject
"So... You're both friends of Puck's. And you tease him and call him dummy. But you're friends."
Um. Okay. Maybe she should ask Puck more about this.
"This is really weird. But okay. Um. River, I think I'll talk to you later, okay? And, um, you too, Duo."
Maybe.
She gives a rather feeble wave and wanders off. Yeah, she wants to find out the real story from Puck.
no subject
"Call it a rain date. Atmospheric variation is subjective."
That went well.
(Thanks for helping, PUCK.)
