The circle of chairs is set out at one side of the bar because in some universe it is totally still tuesday.

In the middle are plates of home made cakes and biscuits shaped like farm animals. Next to them are bowls of icing, sprinkles, and writing icing.

"My suspect had a magical seed surgically implanted into his digestive tract and enchanted to grow unstoppably until it had riddled his internal organs with puncture wounds, eviscerated his eyes, wound its way out of his body and constricted him with enough force to break several bones. Most likely his actual dying was delayed with various healing spells," Teddy says mildly.

"And how are you, doctor?"

"What sort of investigation?"

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Huh. Well, the investigation into Moran's death isn't something I'm involved in," or should be involved in, at least, "my role in matters ended when he died."

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"We had somebody on the inside, getting close to Moran to gather evidence of dark magical crimes. Said somebody got hospitalised, so I impersonated them." Beat. "I was going to meet him when I found an unexpected crime scene instead. Since there's no need to do any impersonating anymore, I'm back to desk work."

"Well, I'm only in my last year of training at the moment. There'll be less desk work once I graduate."

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Three, after leaving school with good enough grades. You need at least EEs in Defence Against the Dark Arts, Transfiguration, Potions, Charms and Herbology. Preferably more."

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"EEs," Teddy corrects. "Exceeds Expectations. Second highest grade."

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. Then the training itself is pretty brutal - we started off with I think eleven people, and now we're down to two."

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"A few were let go for cheating on exams, a few dropped out, a few were wounded."

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"A little. Twenty-five applicants, I think, only twelve spaces?"

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's the Wizarding World, most things are on a smaller scale than the Muggle World."

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know the exact number. Far less than there are Muggles."

[identity profile] followfootsteps.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
A little dryly: "It's not difficult, we have our own separate society. We're not just scattered across the Muggle World."
