Olive finds herself behind the bar (not for the first time), and today she's in a much better mood.

She contemplates the board, then writes:

Sing your order [preferably in rhyming couplets], get half off.

Olive hums quietly to herself as she cleans down the bar, waiting for customers. This is a familiar scenario--considering this bar is at the end of the universe-- but a comforting one.

Olive looks up, from the other end of the bar.

He looks like he's contemplating something, so she lets him be, for now.

There really aren't many rhymes, are there? Oh, well, it'll have to do.

He waves to indicate he's ready. Ish.

Olive comes down to the other end, leans her elbows on the bar.

"What can I do ya for?"

"♫ Hello world, hi there, and hola
♫ Could I ^please have a code cola?"

His voice isn't bad, except for one moment when it sounds oddly Auto-Tuned, but the notes are more or less random.

Olive shakes her head, but smiles and turns to fill the order.

"And hola to you. One 'code cola' coming up, whatever that is."

(She has complete faith in the bar on this one.)

"Digital soda. That fridge there." He leans over the bar to point.

"Oh, thanks," she says, goes in that direction.

Olive pops open the refrigerator.

"I'm guessin' it's not exactly like regular soda."

"It's made of electrical patterns. Otherwise, pretty much the same."

It certainly looks the same.

Olive holds the can up to her eyes, suspicious.

After a moment of fruitless detection, she shrugs, and passes it over the counter.

"There y'are. Enjoy!"

Enzo grins. "You can't tell by looking. Thanks!"

He pops the top and drinks, giving no sign that it's anything other than a normal, moderately unhealthy fluid.

She watches, not a little bit fascinated.

"Is it good?"

"Mm-hmm!"

"To each his own," she says, cheerfully.

"I'd offer you a taste, but it'd electrocute you."

She takes a step back, just in case he spills any.

"Thanks, but no thanks."

"Yeah. Plus you wouldn't actually be able to taste it. Anyway, I've had 'regular' cola when I was human, and it pretty much tastes the same."

"When you were human," she repeats.

"How'd you change?"

"Magic, at first. After that, we've got a machine upstairs that can convert us, but only if it already knows the right human form, so it still has to be magic the first time."

This is all Greek to Olive.

She says so: "This is all Greek to me."

"Ever seen a movie called Tron?"

She shakes her head.

"Too bad, that'd make it easier to explain. I'm a computer program. A data sprite."

"Riiight," she says, slowly.

"How d'you move around in the real world, then?"

"By getting turned human. Milliways doesn't count, it's like every world. And my world's plenty real, too," he scolds her, but without much effort, because this is not a mindset humanity seems likely to break out of anytime soon.

Olive tries to be open-minded, but even she has her limits, in Milliways.

"Interesting."
