Teja and Urquhart are playing chess again, slowly and grimly, but with much less tension than the last time.
Urquhart's nose is still somewhat swollen and discoloured.
Teja would not pass judgement on that; he is far too dignified to smirk at the man's suffering.
Instead, he takes a knight with his bishop, calmly.

Urquhart rolls his eyes a little, and moves a pawn.
"Here, I am a member of Security, and work in the forge."

"It's nice to meet you. I'm a florist from the twentieth century." Which is decidedly not that interesting.
"I didn't think you two were on playing-chess terms."
This, mostly to Urquhart, but open to the both.

"We first did it instead of duelling," Urquhart says, "and ended up with a stalemate. So our argument is settled, but we still need to find out who's the better man at this."
Teja moves a knight.

"Then I promise not to help any of you with moves," she says fondly. "Do either of you want something to eat?"
no subject
"I'd prefer coffee," Urquhart says.
no subject
"One coffee, one tea and for the love of everything keep this dim sum coming," she says, before returning.
She's watching Teja's approach to the game for now. Urquhart, she knows. The goth's battle tctics could be telling.

"What is Dim Sum?" Urquhart asks. He's always curious about new food.

If anyone ever asks again why they're friends, she's just going to say a mutual love of good food.
"I can't get enough of it, honestly. Shrimp dumplings are amazing."

Urquhart shrugs, and moves his queen.

On the one hand, she appreciates Teja's dedication to the task at hand. On the other... he's turning down food for the sake of a chess game. Someone takes himself very seriously.
She glances sideways at Urquhart.

The rats return with the order, and Urquhart pays proper attention to the coffee while Teja ponders his next move, then moves a knight, seemingly at random.

Well, that and offering Urquhart a dumpling to see if he likes it.

Eventually, "Do I want to know what the original quarrel was about?"

seriously; she's been single far too long.
"That matters, huh?"

"And I am sworn to uphold the rules here," Teja says, "and the way they touch and roll on the sofas by the fireplace is close to breaking the third rule."
Pause.
"Will you please make your move, Scotsman?"
no subject
"I meant, who's better at the game matters? Are you timing moves?"

Then, he does.

"Told you they were great."

Then, sips his tea.
