Well, look who it is.

Joris enters Milliways with the faintly guilty air of someone possibly playing hooky. Maybe only possibly, though- he is still wearing his white demon-hunting vest, pockets loaded with ~supplies~, but it isn't being worn over the rest of his uniform. Instead, he's wearing a t-shirt with a movie logo, jeans, and sneakers.

Alright, maybe it isn't so much 'playing hooky', as 'Konstam is busy' and Joris needs someone to explain something to him. Or why else would you explain the very baffled look on his face?

He's just stumbled upon the frustrating mysteries of the opposite sex, and like most people, has come to a bar to find his answers.

... Thankfully he's too young to even be thinking of turning to hard drink.

"It makes sense," X says, after considering their plan for a few moments.

"You will also try for the demons while they are disorganized? After you find Them."

"We've already sent messages out to the other demon hunting families. That's where Konstam is, right now- there's a conference vid, and he and Madam Khan are talking to the other family heads." He shrugs.

"It's mostly reports, sightings and statistics. They'll compile them afterwards, and Konstam and me will go over them after dinner tonight."

X nods. Once.

"Charts are useful. And graphs."

And maps.

And --

Anyway.

And this all would be the main motivation for Joris to do well in his 'normal' schooling. Practical applications of math, science, geography, etc etc etc.

"And they'll probably be a lot of them." Wryly.

Useful or no, that still does not mean that Joris has to like them.

"You have databases, too?"

This is relevant.

Or at least X feels like it should be.

"Lots." Relevant and important!

"The Khans have been keeping track of those sorts of things since... well. There are records books that are copies of earlier books, when the other ones started falling apart because they were so old. And there's a whole department that are working to put all of that information in the computers, now.

"Of course, now they're trying to look at the information with the idea that They were behind it all, but apparently that's slow going? Since its not exactly facts, but trying to figure out how someone would think."

X just nods.

Once.

"Pattern recognition. And why the patterns exist in the first place."

She hesitates.

"I am not always good at that. When it is not combat-related."

This is why she is not a private investigator. For one.

A quick sigh, and Joris nods. "Me either. I mean, I'm trying to learn it. Konstam says I need to know how to- at least the basics. We do have people who are better at that sort of thing, but you can't always call up Headquarters when you've run into a spot of trouble out in the field." He shrugs.

"Which is true. But learning that sort of stuff isn't easy."

At least for Joris. (His talents and skills lay in other areas. But he's trying, at least!)

"Drill helps," X offers.

"And practice. A little."

"Except when 'practice' is copying things out fifty times." He shakes his head.

"But I will. Eventually. ... Hopefully?" Joris takes a deep breath, and lets it out.

"How have things been in your home? Is everything alright there?"

"It has been busy," X says.

"A little. But no one is dead."

She pauses.

"Except the people who already were."

"... I don't think it would be a good idea if they stopped being dead." Carefully.

For all he knows, that sort of thing can happen in X's world.

"No. It was not."

Beat.

"But we stopped it."

Leo helped!

"... Is that sort of thing normal, in your world? The dead rising up?"
