"Um," says Ellen, looking up at the sign. "huh. I... think it's December back home. I'm not really sure, though..."

"Hello Ellen-san," says Ako looking up, "That's, um, twenty percent then. What would you like?"

[aaaaaaaagh_sky]

"Plain old Nuka-Cola would be fine," Ellen says. "And maybe a bowl of noodles if the kitchen is taking orders. I haven't had time to eat at home. How have you been?"

"I'll just be a moment," says Ako before she sticks her head into the kitchens and calls the order on and digs a bottle out of the fridge to pass to Ellen.

"All right. Looking forward to when things get warmer here."

[aaaaaaaagh_sky]

"Thanks," says Ellen, and hands over several bottlecaps. "It's weird how cold it is here. Even in December back home, it's still pretty warm on the surface."

"Well it's supposed to be mostly like Scotland outside and that's a pretty cold place," offers Ako, "Plus the mountains."

[aaaaaaaagh_sky]

"I've heard about that," Ellen says. "We... well, we've got rock formations that go up, back home. No real mountains, though, not anywhere that I've been. And I don't really know much about Scotland other than a few old history texts and vids."

"I only know a little because my homeroom teacher is from near there," says Ako.

Well Wales, but that's close compared to anywhere across an ocean.

"I don't think the mountains are right for that sort of area though."

"I wouldn't know where mountains belong, honestly," Ellen admits. "So I'll take your word for it."

Ako shrugs a little. "I guess. Um, how have you been lately Ellen-san?"

[aaaaaaaagh_sky]

"Pretty good, actually," Ellen says. "I joined the- the closest thing we have to an army. When I go home we're going to be escorting a water caravan from my father's purifier to the town of Megaton."

"I heard about you getting a lot of radiation," says Ako, "So I'm glad that things seem to be going better."

[aaaaaaaagh_sky]

"Yeah. My friend Fawkes got me out of the radioactive area and got me treatment on the spot, but then the Brotherhood of Steel kept me in their infirmary for two weeks, treating the radiation poisoning," Ellen says. "I really owe them for that. And Fawkes."

[a1enzo]

"Twelve," Enzo declares firmly.

[seat_five_girl]

"Hello Enzo-san," says Ako, "I don't think it works that way."

Then she writes a quick circle of months on a napkin.

"Let me fix the sign."

Enzo laughs. "Well, mostly I wanted to mess with you. But I'll have a code cola."

Ako heads for the digital ingredient fridge.

"Better you than someone who wanted a really expensive order," she says straightening with the cola. "How have you been Enzo-san?"

[a1enzo]

"I'm good! Today was Dani's birthday."

[seat_five_girl]

"Oh that is good," says Ako, "I hope it went well."

[a1enzo]

"It was huge! It's also her brother's birthday, and he turned eighteen, and that's adult there—dunno if it's the same for you—so there's no way there wasn't gonna be a huge celebration."

"It's twenty in Japan," says Ako, "I'm glad things went well."
