Barbara rolls into the bar, and automatically looks around.

She spots a young blond woman behind the bar's massive length.

She swallows. And heads straight for the ladies' restroom where she looks around to make sure no one's there before taking a deep breath, leaning her head down into her lap, and beginning to laugh. And laugh and laugh. Until she starts crying in relief, the tears streaming down her cheeks almost unnoticed as she throws her head back.

"YES!"

Some of the tension leaks out of X's shoulders.

"Mel's sister?"

The one she was worried about?

"That one, yeah."

X's attention sharpens. Fractionally.

"She remembers? Milliways."

Beat.

"Mel said she did not."

"She's beginning to. Sort of like someone recovering from amnesia." And wasn't that a gross oversimplification?

"Sometimes people do not remember everything."

Beat.

"Magic will not help?"

Here she hesitates, just fractionally.

"Or mutation?"

X has got a damn fine line on a healer, for one. Er.

"I don't think we're to the point where that's necessary yet. She's still got time to recover on her own." Barbara didn't want to rush things.

"Okay."

Beat.

"You will help her, too? To remember."

Several films suggest that memories can be prompted!

Barbara snorts. "Of course."

"Sometimes people are stupid," X says.

Beat.

"And stubborn."

You can never tell who will decide a person needs to be self-sufficient when helping is a more productive course.

"I'm used to those sorts of people, yeah."

"I am, too."

Maybe because they are those sorts of people?

"I suspected you might be."

Perish the thought!

X looks slightly dubious.

"You have not met my teammates."

A tiny smirk flits across Babs' lips. "And who's fault is that?"

X's expression remains perfectly composed.

"They do not come here."

Obviously that is their fault.

Or something.

"And that's the only way I could meet them?"

Silly, X!

"You could visit. My world."

As if Babs would be interested in such a thing.

"Now there's an interesting suggestion."

Which, obviously, Babs has not thought of!

"It would be more difficult for them to visit yours."

X's wisdom cannot be questioned.

Or can it?

"You have a point."

Apparently if it can, Babs isn't going to be the one to do it.

X hesitates.

"You want to visit?"

"Why wouldn't I?"

X fails to look shifty.

"I do not know."

Beat.

"Sometimes people do not."

You know. Want to visit places.

Like San Francisco.

"There's nothing wrong with where you're from, is there?" Babs asks, managing to keep the smirk off her face, and out of her voice.

"It is less dangerous than Gotham."

Beat.

"Most of the time."

Except when there are alien invasions. Or the Dark Avengers show up.
