It's mostly a nondescript binder. Besides, girls with odd hair colors should meet in passing at the very least.

Never mind that Ako is flipping ahead past the song titles in Aubresh. English is bad enough, thank-you.

"Would I be correct in assuming that the binder relates to the karaoke machine stationed in our vicinity?"

...Well, that is one way to break the ice.

It is!

"I hope so," says Ako, "I know there's supposed to be a cursed one that makes you sing, but I hope that Sandu-sensei is better organized than that."

[seeswithhereyes]

"A cursed karaoke machine?" You have her interest now.

[seat_five_girl]

"That's what I've heard," says Ako, "But I don't know anything about magic so I just try and stay away from it."

This also means that she's not entirely sure where it is.

[seeswithhereyes]

"Interesting. This may require some investigation."

[seat_five_girl]

"Please be careful. I'm only guessing, but if it was easy to deal with I'd think someone would have by now."

"Oh, my name is Ako, Izumi Ako. Please call me Ako."

[seeswithhereyes]

"Rose Lalonde. Call me Rose," she replies.

[seat_five_girl]

"All right," says Ako with a nod, "Are you interested in magic, Rose-san?"

[seeswithhereyes]

"Given that I wield it on at least an hourly basis, it is safe to say that yes, I am quite interested in magic."

[seat_five_girl]

"That's incredible Rose-san."

[seeswithhereyes]

"I thought so as well, when I first discovered it, however it is becoming more and more banal and commonplace."

[seat_five_girl]

Rose is clearly nuts. Ako's one wind spell she cast was deeply cool.

"...Have you tried doing something else for a while?" she asks, "It's easy to get bored if you don't switch things around once in a while."

[seeswithhereyes]

"Unfortunately, as of late my life has been one long battle. It makes finding time for something else irritatingly difficult."

[seat_five_girl]

"That's terrible," says Ako, "Are you alone?"

Do you need back up?

[seeswithhereyes]

"No, I am not the only one. My friends are also embroiled in the same conflict."

[seat_five_girl]

"But are you together?" tries Ako again.

Friends and sides are... not always the same. But having friends involved at all gives a small measure of hope.

[seeswithhereyes]

"That depends entirely on how you define 'together'," Rose replies.

[seat_five_girl]

That sounds mostly like 'not really'.

"I'm not going to like how this goes if I keep, um, picking at things am I?"

[seeswithhereyes]

"Again, that depends."

[seat_five_girl]

"Takamichi-sensei always said that when we weren't going to like it," says Ako, "...Would you like to talk about it anyway?"
