Okay, so the effect might be better if you do your own nail art rather than get some of the Life Support team to try it, but as well as nail art pens there are various face packs, some cucumber to put on your eyes if you like that sort of thing, and so on. If that's not quite up your street, there's some temporary tattoo pens, but don't draw anything on yourself that you can't live with for a few days.

There is a smell of free* traditional lunch** coming from one of the tables in the corner of the bar.

It's not long since the last Life Support, so they haven't set out the circle, but there's people milling around if anyone wants to chat, have free food, or spend the day with company.

If you already stuffed yourself full of food at home, Guppy's wife's tablet is on the next table with the option of Elfing Yourself. Guppy has loaded it with some pictures of people he snapped earlier to demonstrate, who will either be suitably entertained, or entertainingly horrified in such a way you can only get away with at Christmas.

Bonnie isn't sure why the bar smells of apples everywhere - but she's not complaining, it's a nice smell.

At the moment she's at the bar busy doing her marking for the evening. So far it's been a boring lot - nobody's written anything remotely dangerous so far. This is why she hates setting written assignments, as a rule; the students don't like doing them and she doesn't like marking them, but the Principal gets her knickers in a knot if she doesn't set any at all.

But her patience is eventually rewarded. She suddenly barks a loud laugh, gets out her red pen, and very carefully changes the word 'cock' to 'cog' on every occasion down the page.

Outside in the garden, there is a circle of chairs.

And also a barbecue, with some delicious smelling sausages and burgers being grilled. Plenty of fried onions and mushrooms to go with it.

Hammered into the ground is the usual sign.

Spring is here!*

Of course, in the bay, it's always a bit warmer, and it's totally the place for a lake party. Because two years ago at the weekend, the bar came through near disaster.

As such, there is a big, controlled bonfire, tables of yummy bonfire food, and space should anyone want to supply some booze.

Today we mark the day the bar got through the Apocalypse two years ago

Given that it didn't come through exactly unscathed, for those who want a less raucous event, there's a Life Support session just inside the back door.

Guppy hasn't got a lot of time before preparing for a very busy couple of days, but he drops off a collection of little packages at the tree. (Except for Gavroche who got his yesterday.) With each one comes a card the kids helped make and then copied.

All in all, it's been a pretty tough month, so the Life Support team are on hand for a bit of TLC. The usual circle of chairs is set out in a corner.

There's a selection of cakes and pastries on the table, to meet all dietary requirements, and plenty of hot and cold drinks. The smell of cake wafts across the bar. And as always, there's a big poster up on the wall:

Connor is outside, near the lakeshore, relaxing; the past five days have been a lot of work in Whitechapel, getting people settled, medicated, fed, and then starting the renovation and expansions, breaking things here and building things there.

Really, he appreciates the quiet, and the chance to skip stones across the water using telekinesis.

The door opens to admit one Connor; he blinks in surprise but lets the door close behind himself, making his way to the bar.

You see, it was a very strange day, that started with a girl named Alice barging into Whitechapel with a shotgun and a thirst for Freakangel blood. It continued along with said murderous girl being knocked out with a water can dropped by KK, and the same girl later almost cutting Connor's neck.

(His throat was bandaged, but the cut was barely more than skin deep: it was very simple to heal it up until it was gone.)

It continued with mundane chaos, weird chaos, violence, more violence, general strangeness... and mercy. Connor just led a hundred desperate people to a new home: it was a fucking very long day and he really needs a pint right now.

So, it's been a bit scary and dramatic around here over the last week.
