Enter a pegasus
Somewhere out in the forest, a call is made. It's a very quiet call, but it really is intended to draw someone's attention.
"No, really, please do come back. I'm awfully sorry about the clock, but you really need-"
The voice cuts off as its owner comes into view. She's a small pegasus, looking around in confusion. Sure, she's not very familiar with the Everfree Forest, but this doesn't look anything like the parts she does know. And the rabbit she's been trying to catch is nowhere to be seen. And - are those buildings?
Well. Where there are buildings there are usually other ponies. She nervously steps out away from the forest's edge, softly calling "Hello?"

It stops in its tracks and blinks a whole lot of eyes- seriously, the entire front end is covered in 'em- at once.

"Hey there, little guy," she says, crouching a bit. "Is this your home?"

It is, perhaps, possible that there's some understatement involved there.

"Mrs. Wilson? What'd you find now, girl?"

And up a tree is a perfectly sensible place to sit and read, for a little boy! It's safe from certain ground-dwelling predators, even if the little black and gold one at the base of the tree is more than enough deterant.
"...hello? Who's there?"
no subject
She doesn't expect to see... something. It looks more like a monkey than anything else she knows, but there are clothes and no tail and of course speaking words.
Speaking of which... "O-oh, nopony." She shrinks back a bit. No, wait, she wants to meet who's here. "I-I mean, I'm Fluttershy." She's not very loud.
no subject
"...I'm Tyler.....and that's Winston. Winston, behave."
no subject
"Oh, um, what is he?" She could, perhaps, ask 'what are you' as well, but one thing at a time.

All right, so Sam isn't firing anything, as such; he's got a set of knives, and with them is making short work of destroying the target in front of him. But the targets are there for anyone to use, and he thought he might as well.
no subject
When she gets to where she can see what's going on, though, she stumbles back a few steps with a gasp. Throwing knives? That's... somepony could get hurt that way. Or some... whatever that is that's throwing them.
no subject
The gasp catches his attention, and... well, he's got experience with centaurs (and a particularly annoying unicorn) in his world; it's not much of a stretch to assume the winged horse is sentient.
"Hello."
no subject
Garrulous, she isn't. But people doing hurty-things are scary. Even if they're doing them away from others, like this one is. And even if they're in familiar shapes, like this one isn't.

Somehow, he still doesn't feel prepared for this. "Hello?"
no subject
"Um, hi."
Not that she really knows how to deal with a knowledgeable stranger. But she's making an effort!
no subject
Notice how he doesn't ask if she's a hallucination. He's a very polite boy.
no subject
"I... I guess so. What is this place?"
no subject
[OOC-Please imagine the icon is a gleeful look and not quite so horrified. Closest I've currently got.]

The girl, on the other hand, might notice that the pony looks like she could use some help.

"Hi," Julie calls out as she floats down to a more conversational height. "Is everything all right?"
no subject
She lets out a squeak and backs up a couple of steps toward the forest. She's not fleeing, not yet, but she's clearly not comfortable either.

...I'm so sorry for doing this to you Fluttershy...
A nip that has been interrupted by the appearance of a wee pony.
She glances at her glass, then at the pony. "Man, this stuff is good..."
no subject
"O-oh, um, is it? That's... um... good?" she ventures. Not that she knows what she's talking about - or to - but good things are good, right?
no subject
"Usually? Fantastic. But knowing this place, you've got to be real." She squats down. "Okay, this is Milliways, and you're in the forest." She points in the direction of the back door. "That's the main bar, and there are rooms there."
no subject
"Oh. Um, what kind of rooms?" she asks after a moment.
