When Munch enters Milliways tonight it is with the assumption that he'll actually have a night off, for once. It seemed like that was all he did whenever he came in, anymore. Then there was the fact that he had just come from Elliot's goodbye party, and John had every intention of continuing the farewell "celebration" here.
So when he sidles up to the bar and placed an order, Munch is surprised when a napkin-note appears instead.
"What? That's gotta be a mistake; I wasn't scheduled for last night!"
Another note pops up, a little bit angrier than the last.
"Check your calender, Toots. I'm telling you, I wasn't supposed to...oh." Munch stares at the day planner on his phone, where the words "Happy Hour - M-Ways" are in bold font under the entry for August 28.
"Whoops."
Tonight's Specials
Bye Bye Bahamas
Leaving Las Vegas
End of the Road
1/2 off all sodas
He may be late, but it's Happy Hour with John Munch and the bar is open. Step on up.

So says the cowgirl who has just walked up. She knocks her hat back to expose her blue eyes, and nods politely.
"Hello, Detective."
It's been a while. All summer, in fact.

"Hello yourself. And what particular soda can I get for you tonight?"
no subject
She adjusts her guns so she can take a seat, and sets her elbows on the bar.
"I'm feelin' a touch adventurous tonight. Why don't you surprise me? I 'magine Miss Bar's got somethin' stashed back there I have yet t'try."

"How does this strike you?"

It's so colorful.
"I think that'll do nicely," she grins, nodding her approval. "Thank you kindly. An' how've you been?"
no subject
It is colorful, isn't it?
"I've been all right. New York's staying at its typical level of crazy."

She laughs softly, shaking her head at herself. It's not very ladylike drinking straight from the bottle, of course; but she's not so prim and proper these days.
"Typical? I've never been t'New York myself, an' I don't believe you've told me which time you hail from."

"The year's 2011 where I'm from, so I imagine it's pretty different from the way it was in your time. More buildings, taller buildings, definitely a lot more crime."

Kate picks up the bottle and doesn't hesitate to take a sip. She blinks a little hard as the bubbles fizz in her mouth, swallows, and licks her lips.
And then she grins.
"Good choice."

Munch grins back.
"Glad you like it."

Beat.
"Though, perhaps no pictures of the elevated crime."
Skyscrapers and electric green beverages are enough of a shock to her old-world sensibilities. Not that she has no experience with bloody crime, but she certainly doesn't seek out the exposure.

He'd just love to see himself explain to Finn or the captain about why he was taking one of their crime scenes out of the office with him.

She winks, teasing, and points the neck of her bottle at him.
"Have y'ever had one of these?"
