Spider-Woman - Happy Hour

It's been forever since she's been here but Jessica Spider-Woman is happy for the break...that is until she discovers it's not really  a break as Bar wants her to run the happy hour. It's been a while since she's slung drinks but she thinks she can still manage so she accepts easily enough.

But then there is what to have for specials...

Eh, good enough, she thinks before calling out, "Happy Hour's open. Come and get it!"

"Pick a red," says Janet sitting down, "I'm not feeling picky."

Jess offers a grin for a fellow costume before turning and perusing the racks. She comes back with an older vintage, opens the bottle and sets to pour before remembering to offer to cork for a sniff.

Janet gives a lop sided smile before checking the cork, scent and moisture.

"Open up on bad guys more than wine bottles, huh?"

All of which are excellent.

"You got me," Jess says with another grin as she reaches for a wine glass to place on the bar before...she's going to guess Wasp or Queen Bee maybe? "I don't think we've met. I'm called Spider-Woman in costume."

"I'm Wasp. Is ol' webhead franchising where you're from?"

Beneath her mask Jess's eyebrows rise.

"Sort of, but I'm not part of it," she says as she pours, remembering to only bother with a little so Wasp can do a taste test. "I guess I'd be an independent contractor if anything. I...know a Wasp in my world. You associated with the Avengers?"

"I named ours. We're -er."

Janet swirls and sips.

"Just starting up, more or less. This'll be fine. Pour away."

Jess pours the wine in a bit of shock as she'd never really met an original Avenger face to face before...well aside from Cap and Thor...or Iron Man but still.

"Well from someone on the other side of a few decades, let me say this is an honor," she can't help saying. "Wait, that might be awkward for you...sorry."

"Try deeply strange. I - there's a Young Avengers group out there. I'm too young for a junior group!"

"My complete sympathies," Jess replies earnestly. "I've actually already been replaced once and there's a Spider-Girl. The Young Avengers are good though. I've seen them in action."

"Man that's got to be strange," says Janet taking a sip, "I don't get someone following me around calling themselves Pupa do I? 'Cause I'd have to take steps if that was going to happen."

"I'm pretty sure you've had no sidekicks or junior versions of yourself. Not that you were...aren't popular. Pym's had a few versions but no one's attempted the Wasp."

Well, except for Pym himself but maybe that doesn't need to be said.

No, no it doesn't.

"English tenses are terrible for this sort of thing," comments Janet, "I vote we put Reed on fixing it."

Jess gives a panicked shake of her head and says, "No, Susan! Reed would make it too complex."

"...Yeah probably. I was hoping we could use it to help keep him occupied for an afternoon or something. Kill two birds with one stone and all that."

"Not a bad plan...except Reed will make it more complex than it needs to be. He's worse than Pym that way. Maybe if you have him decide on how to tell if some one is from another dimension that would work?" Jess asks taking a sip of the Merlot.

"It would take some one to test it on and that means explaining the Bar if I bring anyone form here."

She can hear the explanation now. 'Hey guys, so I found this pocket universe with great drinks that I kinda forgot to mention. Anyway, I brought company home. She'll be using the spare room until we test Reed's latest doohickey and I can open a door back to the magical bar. No problem? Great. Bye!'

Jess's eyes don't dart to the wrist watch type thing she's wearing...really.

"Nice to know some things don't change," she says with a grin. "You guys still have a Thor or Cap America?"

"Picked Cap up out of the ice not long ago and Thor's been on the team from day one - sounding like he was raised by a feral gang of Shakespearean actors the whole way."

"Does Thor not have the cutest...hair?" Jess asks demurring at the last minute. "And Cap..." She breaths deeply as if sampling a vintage.

"They don't make 'em like that anymore," agrees Janet, "And that's terrible."
