His eyebrows go up before Charles smiles, the galloping thoughts are nice as they're happy.

Whirlwinds of anxiety feel quite different, "Celebrating something?"

One needs a reason to consume vast quantities of sugar at this age?

"Leftover cake from Mike's birthday on sunday."

"Mike the barman? I don't think I've met him, but I'm glad he's doing well enough for a party,"

No, but Charles grew up with rationing so a reason helped.

"Was just a small one, I made him cupcakes."

"That sounds like a nice birthday. What kind of cupcakes and how many were leftover?"

As it seems like Tyler must have had a lot of them.

"Two kinds, chocolate mint with vanilla frosting, and vanilla raspberry filled, with raspberry buttercream."

He's had two of each really.

"There's still a dozen of each leftover in the walk-in fridge."

"Those sound delicious and complicated to make."

"They weren't too hard, and really fun to make."

"That's good. A party always need tasty food."

"I'll bring you some!"

...with that Tyler's already launching himself from rafter to wall, and then to floor with a thud before rushing through the kitchen doors.

Charles laughs and sips his drink as Tyler leaves, "Be careful."

He's generally careful! His superpower is common sense!

...Which is why Tyler comes back with a little tray of the cupcakes, the chocolate mint ones with dinosaur cup paper and plastic dinosaurs in the frosting, and princess paper and little princess dolls in the vanilla ones.

They're incredibly cute and Charles grins, "Thank you."
