A napkin appears to greet her moments later.

"Really?" Beat. "Sure I will."

"Oh," Ava says, blinking. First-timers she's gotten, longtime Milliwaysers she's never met before she's gotten, but somehow she always skips this nebulous in-between part.

"Cool!" she adds. "Well, welcome."

Another smile, this one crooked.

"Is it weird enough for you yet?"

"Weird? Not really."

She tosses her hair back with a flick of her head, considering again.

"I'm used to weird."

Ava considers the level of weird one would need to be accustomed to in order to find Milliways blasé.

"So ... what's your world like? Mine kind of sucks, but it definitely didn't prepare me for this place."

"Compared to this? Normal."

She's attempting to backtrack, realizing what her words could potentially lead to a discussion of - and only moderately succeeding.

"You - learn to deal with the unexpected."

"Mysterious," Ava grins.

Her eyes narrow pleasantly.

"Are you a spy?"

Maybe a magical spy. Like Liz!

Okay, Liz is more like a ghostbuster.

"Nothing that exciting," she promises, shaking her head quickly.

"I'm just used to a world where some people are, uh, different."

Maybe asking if she was a spy was kind of dumb given the information she had, which was: not that spylike.

"Me too, I guess," Ava agrees.

"Well. Given value of 'used to.'"

"Where're you from?"

She steals an unused piece of pineapple from the cutting board, taking a bite.

"Uhh."

She wrinkles her noise.

"Peoria, Illinois, if you've heard of it. If not, you're not missing out."

She's been all around the better part of the forty-eight. It's easier to disappear, too, if an unfortunate accident happens.

And yet she blinks at the mention.

"No, sorry. Now I'm wishing I had."

Ava is now officially making a face.

"I mean ... it wasn't that bad? But we were never gonna be as cool as Chicago."

"Chicago is pretty cool," Raven agrees.

Or it had been, aside from some of the obvious racism.

"Oh, so we're both from earths," Ava says brightly.

"I mean, it's ... usually a pretty safe bet. But not all the time."

"Very much Earth."

She squints at Ava.

"So there are people from - not-Earth?"

"Oh yeah," Ava says.

"Space, hell dimensions, other planets ..."

She looks down at Ava's drink.

"Maybe I need one of those."

Ohhhhh hey, drinky drink.

Ava picks up her glass and sips speculatively.

"It's mostly earth in here, if it helps," she offers.

"Just ... weird kinds of earths."

"More than one earth? Or more than one version?"

Maybe she should be sitting for this conversation.

"Yyyyes and yes," Ava decides.

She smiles ruefully.

"Sorry. I'm probably not the best person to explain it."

"No, it's okay, it's all just - a lot to take in."

She gives Ava a quick smile, as if to reassure her, but it's brief.

Ava sips her drink.

"Specific questions I can probably do-- because, you know, either I know or I don't."
