William loves the Milliways' stables as they're big, most of the horses are friendly and he can always finds some space to himself. Their barn at home does what it needs to and he has a spot for hiding stuff in it, but his responsibilities are more there.

Today he's taken care of a few chores around the barn and has been introducing himself to a beautiful mare that recently arrived. Horus is exploring and William's not too concerned about him as the forge cats keeps an eye on him when they're here.

Once he's done checking on all the horses, he plans on sitting on the back porch of the Bar with a book and enjoying it feeling like Spring.

"Where were you planning to go? Home?"

"Nowhere actually, I was just explorin' out back when suddenly I was in Gotland,"

He hadn't planned as he was still trying to figure out what he could do to help in Milliways. The choice to stay or go was taken from him.

"Ugh. That sucks. Not Gotland, but that it just dumped you there. Things were really messed up."

"Yeah, they were. They're better now, its not like a battlefield,"

That was disturbing to see Milliways looking like pictures of the war.

"The worst part was right after. Before I found my Door again. I really thought it was gone."

"Yeah, I didn't know if I'd ever get back here. Its amazin' though that it is back, you'd never know what'd happened if you didn't know where to look."

"If it was really gone... This is where I meet my girlfriend. I'd probably have gone crazy by now."

William stares at Enzo for a moment as yes, he would have missed Thalia but she can handle herself and he doesn't really know Enzo well enough to explain about his father, "Then its good it came back."

"Yeah. I mean, for its own sake, too, but... I know I'm not the only one who's got a lot invested in this place."

"No, we all do."

"Dr. Stantz had better come up with something amazing to make up for it..."

"Why?"

Its hard to imagine anyone's to blame for what happened, things just fall apart sometimes when they get bad, its almost impossible to stop them.

"Well, according to Claudia, he caused it by messing something up in an experiment. And then stayed in his room the whole time and didn't even know it was happening. Seriously, how into science do you have to get to miss that?"

"I don't know, guess a good bit, but if he figured out what happened, that's somethin'. Sometimes bad stuff just gets goin' and all you can do is ride it out. Things are fine now."

"Yeah, I know. But I still think everyone should be allowed to... I dunno. Something to let off steam. Pie him in the face or something."

"It won't change anythin' and it'll make some folks think about stuff that they might not want to,"

He gets wanting to do something to someone because you can, but it doesn't make sense for this. Even if that man did something that started everything in Milliways going bad, that's probably awful enough for him especially as he probably loves Milliways too.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Sigh.

"Sometimes life's just awful and you keep goin' cause that's what you do. Luckily here the awful bit got sorted out, which is nice. No need to keep worryin' as there's always goin' to be new stuff to go wrong,"

Usually the awful bits last longer than the nice ones in William's experience so its better to enjoy them before they're gone.

"Yeah. I just wish I could have done more to help myself. I mean, like you said, it got sorted out either way, but... well, I'm a Guardian. I'm supposed to be able to fix things."

"Yeah, but that was bigger than anyone. Some things just can't get fixed,"

Its wonderful when they can but William considers those the exceptions.

"Guardians can't afford to believe that."

"Then you've got a damn hard job ahead of you. I mean I'm not sayin' you shouldn't try and fix what you can, but even if you try, can't do everythin',"

Its taken William a while to learn this and he still does far too much, but even when one thing is fixed, another may fall apart.

"Maybe not, but I can't not try."

William nods, that's what he does, you keep trying and working as long as you can.
