[OOM: We can't afford for me to do the right thing.]
It's been a long time since he'd last really 'powered up,' as Ruby teases him by calling it. Sam can feel the effects twisting through him. Everything seems brighter, sharper, clearer; he feels clearer, stronger, ready for anything.
He can't sit still, and he sure as hell can't go back to the motel room until it wears off a little - Dean'll notice something's wrong in a hot second, and Sam doesn't want to lie to him unless he has to.
He pushes through the door to Milliways instead. Maybe he can walk it off there, at least a little bit.
[OOC note: Sam is currently riding a paranormal high due to the effects of ingesting demon blood. If your character would be able to detect that sort of taint, feel free to have them do so! Just don't expect him necesssarily to admit it.]

"Last time I was in -- Andrew was, she was ..."
"... she's not any better, is she."
He sounds resigned.
no subject
"Oh-- no," she says. "She's fine now."
A rueful smile. "Andrew and I went on this bizarre vision quest, thing, and she's fine."
no subject
Sam stares.
"You -- the two of you -- wait, what now?"
no subject
Her frustration is mostly reserved for the fact that Milliways is so weird that when you recount the events of your day to third parties, you tend to sound crazy.
"And he's a Greek god of some kind? He told us that Baby's spirit was really far away and that's why she wasn't waking up, so Andrew cast a spell to get us to where she was. We ran around with a bunch of Tarot cards and solved riddles and got called names, and then Andrew managed to find Baby and we made a door home."
Beat.
"Was that any better ...? It wasn't, was it."
no subject
Then he grins.
"But that's okay. I think I got the important part. Baby's okay, Andrew's probably pretty happy about that, and you helped with all this?"
no subject
She smiles slightly.
"I might have helped. A little bit."
no subject
His smile can light up the room.
"Good for you."
no subject
(And briefly, experiences a flashback to that time Bela accused her of having a crush on him.
... What is it that's so off-kilter? It's not with her.)
"Uh, so ... yeah," she concludes. "Thanks."
no subject
"Andrew was pretty torn up, and Baby -- she's good people."
Beat.
"Uh, robot-people. Person. You know what I mean."
no subject
"I think I do, actually.
She's sort of weirdly adorable."
no subject
"She kind of is, isn't she?"
no subject
Sam's throwing her off.
"Just don't tell Andrew I said so."
no subject
"Your secret's safe with me."
no subject
This should not necessarily be taken as an indicator of her mood.
"Hey, Sam," she says after a slight pause.
"Is everything okay?"
no subject
"Why do you ask?"
no subject
Maybe he doesn't know? Or he can't tell?
"You, just ... feel sort of different," she says.
no subject
"Different how?"
no subject
Like a demon is wrong.
"I don't know," she admits.
"I just wouldn't call it strictly positive."
no subject
Of all the people he knows, there's basically only one who really gets what it's like to have this exact kind of power, and she's standing right in front of him.
"... it doesn't have to be strictly negative, either," he says, after a moment. "Technically speaking."
no subject
And a few things may click into place.
"So-- this, you ..."
She gestures vaguely.
"You're doing this, this is you?"
no subject
"I've, um. Been practicing. My... abilities."
no subject
"What--"
Ava is legitimately not sure whether to smile.
Nevertheless, she also steals a glance around, and lowers her voice in turn.
"Oh my God. Um. No, I guess it's not strictly negative ..."
no subject
Despite the jitters that are still visibly running through him, Sam sounds tired.
"But I had to. Things have gotten pretty bad out there."
no subject
"Okay-- I mean yeah, I guess they must have."
(I had no choice)
She's always hated to ask, because she is never sure he'll really tell her. But this seems like a pretty damn special case.
"Do you want to tell me what's going on?
I mean. I don't know if I can ..."
no subject
"I---"
No one seems to be listening, but it's just as well to be careful.
"-- yeah. I mean, it's your world too."
Well, it was.
"Come on; let's find a place to sit down. This, uh, there's kind of a lot that's been going on."
