This is a momentous day in Gotham. But Alex Knox doesn't know that. He knows that it's a sad day. CIRCUS TRAGEDY is spelled out in big letters on the front page of all the papers. Three dead, one teenaged boy left all alone. Sad, and (given Gotham) probably suspicious.

But as for how Dick Grayson is and who he might be, that is something Knox can't know.

"Who's that? A super-TV anchorman?" The very definition of plastic to Alex.

[interrogoiterum]

Renee smirks. "No, he has the same power set as Elongated Man. He's just a little more - abrasive with it."

[gotham_knocking]

"Two people who can do that...one is weird enough. Two..." The mind boggles.

"Anything weirder than that?"

[interrogoiterum]

Renee is quiet for a second while she weighs up the weird.

"Well, there's Negative Man. I don't even know what that thing he projects from his body is supposed to be."

[gotham_knocking]

"And he's not called that because of his sparkling personality?"

[interrogoiterum]

"Not as far as I know," she says. "I think it's more to do with the fact that his - whatever it is - looks like a negative on film. If you squint."

[gotham_knocking]

"I guess that counts as weird. Something to look forward to, maybe." Though the photos will not look good.

[interrogoiterum]

"No, they never do," Renee agrees.

"How are you doing for freaky supervillains? Has Solomon Grundy turned up? Man-Bat?"

[gotham_knocking]

"Don't know those names, either. We had the Joker. We got Two-Face. There's the Cat Burglar Lady. Tweedledee and Tweedledum. The Cavalier, though he was a good guy at first, I think. And the occasional Joker wannabe.

"But that's just Gotham. Freak Central is Central City." That pun was by accident. Really.

"Yeah, they had their share. Captain Boomerang, Captain Cold. Doctor Alchemy."

[gotham_knocking]

"The best one's the Trickster. Con artist turned costumed madman. With no fashion sense. And a voice like a cartoon character."

[interrogoiterum]

"Yeah, he's a favourite of mine," Renee says. "Mostly because he's never actually tried to destroy the world or hurt any of my friends."

[gotham_knocking]

"He made a road trip to Gotham?" That is only mildly surprising. James Jesse's rap sheet as James Jesse was like a map of the Interstate Highway System.

[interrogoiterum]

"No, never," Renee says.

"That's why I like him."

[gotham_knocking]

"That's fair. I'm hoping he stays where he is now.

"Which is actually jail." He hears the prisons out there are really good. Or bad, depending on who you ask.
