The specials show up on the board the minute he gets there. Bartending's fun -- at least he had fun the last time he was back here -- and if nothing else, he'll have paid off that new set of clothes Bar gave him after his trip to Ellen's world. The last thing he wants is to be known as some kind of freeloader. He's always paid his way, ever since he was seventeen and found himself alone, and there's no reason he'd stop doing it just 'cause he's stuck here.

"Good evening, Mr. Anders," she says, when she notices the bartender.
She frowns as her eyes go to the specials board.
"Are those meant to be the names of drinks?"
They're even stranger than names of drinks here usually are.

She's easy to remember, all shy and reserved and everything. He glances again at the specials board, shrugs helplessly, and nods. (No, maybe the right word for her is proper.)
"Yeah. People will name drinks after anything." Flipping through the bartending guide stuck back here, he's just relieved Sex With The Captain isn't one of tonight's specials. If it had been, he was gonna have to argue his case to get that one wiped out.
"Get you anything?"
no subject
"There seem to be so many of them, I suppose people have had to get creative in the naming of them. Even if the names make no sense."
Mary had looked at Bar's book on drinks when she'd tended it herself. There are an astounding number of them.
"Perhaps just a glass of orange juice."
Mundane, perhaps, but hard to get at home.
"Have you been well?"
no subject
"How about you? You been staying out of trouble?" And she had a friend with a... a leg thing back home too. "And your friend, the one who hurt himself? That was you, right?"
It's been a little while.

She's a finger or so shy of five feet tall, and looks perhaps fifteen or sixteen at most. The shift she borrowed from Bar to throw over her bull-dancer's garb and ward off this place's chill does nothing to make her look any older, either.

"Let me take a look and see what we have."
He's not even sure what he's supposed to be looking for, but this bottle with... hey, that looks like the ancient writings, he used to see that around when he was playing ball on Gemenon... with a milky white something inside and a word that starts with K catches his eye, and it he picks it up with a frown.
"This anything like what you're looking for?"

This K-bottle stuff looks pretty disgusting, but so does ambrosia if you've never seen it before. He'll happily reserve judgment. "I'm Sam. We haven't met before."

"Which one would be cool an strong?"
He's decided to not go back just yet and so his sword is upstairs, but he's still in Lincoln green.
no subject
He shakes his head, just a little. "How sweet do you like your drinks?"
no subject
Will loves chocolate and can only get it here.
no subject
Or used to be.
"Strong and smooth and deceptively easy to drink too much of. As long as you don't mind something green in your glass."

She looks at the specials to choose.
And bursts out laughing.
She wants all three
no subject
But he has to laugh too, 'cause it's contagious and it's a frak of a lot more fun than acting hurt over the specials Bar chose to saddle him with.
"What can I get you? Or do you just want to sit there and laugh at me all night? Which, by the way, is one hit I'm perfectly capable of taking. Just so you know."
(Yeah, he likes her.)
no subject
"I will have some easy action, then, as you're offering."
no subject
Yeah, he ever finds himself on another world where they auction off his time for charity, he's gonna insist on it being a bartending gig. He only ever did it a few times back in the day, but it was a blast. He likes it. A whole new career in his future, for when he's too godsdamn old for pyramid.
He mixes up the brandy and vermouth and whiskey and a squeeze of lemon juice, shakes it with some crushed ice ("look, I'm following directions and everything") and pours it all into a glass for her.
"Easy Action, here you go. I'm not gonna make any judgment on it, unlike some other people here, and I'm also not even gonna tell you that people used to tell me Easy was my middle name. What the frak, right? It doesn't even start with the right letter."

This guy has to be new. Or at least newer than he is, which is something of a relief. It sucks being the new kid in town.

He knows water and other liquids are out of the question, but it's entirely possible there's something back here that the guy actually can imbibe. He guesses he'll find out.
"How've you been?"
no subject
To each their own slang.
"I'll just have a code cola. That minifridge there." He leans over the bar to point. "I'm okay. You?"
