Dinah comes up from the garage, wiping grease off her hands onto a rag, which she leaves with the bar in exchange for an egg cream. It's not really a fair trade.

She's dressed for shop work: hair pulled back from her face, dirty jeans and a Green Lantern T-shirt that's stained from where she's wiped her hands as she went.

Go on, ask her if she can recite the oath.

Sameth is researching ways to construct batteries at the counter when Dinah sits down, her shirt design looks almost like a Charter Mark,

"What does that mean?"

"Hmmm?"

Dinah shifts her attention from her drink to her shirt just to remind herself what she's wearing.

"It's the symbol of the Green Lantern Corps," she explains. "They're like a police force for space."

And because Milliways, and natural assumptions therein, she adds: "I'm not in the Corps. But the shirt was on sale."

"Oh, it looks sort of like a magical symbol from my world called a Charter Mark,"

He pulls back his bangs to show her the Charter Mark on his forehead.

Dinah leans forward to see.

"Huh," she says. "It does kinda look like that, doesn't it?

"I don't think it's anything to do with magic, though. The Green Lantern's get their power from alien tech."

"Yes, not a lot of things do. Oh, what does it do? It must be fairly powerful if they can control a universe."

Voodoo can't. He was always more of a Marvel kid.

But he does know what hard work looks like.

Which is why Bar also offers her a complimentary alcoholic beverage of her choice.

If she asks, Bar'll point her to the frogman in one of the booths. He's dressed in his civvies and reading over an intel brief.

Oooh, beer!

Dinah appreciates the gesture, and takes a mouthful before she looks in the direction of the folded napkin arrow.

Exchanging one drink for another, and adding another bottle of the same pale lager, she strolls over, offering him the second bottle.

"Thanks."

Voodoo looks up and smiles, taking the second bottle. "Don't mention it," he says, setting the bottle next to the sheaf of papers.

"Seriously, don't. I got a reputation to protect."

He's a mean old man, doncha know.

Dinah crosses her heart with her own beer.

"Your secret is safe with me," she says. "What're you reading?"

Surprise teenager!

"Someone slip you a ring?"

"They were three for ten dollars!" Dinah points out. "I have a blue one with an 'S' as well. Doesn't make me Kryptonian."

"Bah! Logic takes all the fun out of it," says Artemis taking a stool and turning towards Dinah, "How have thing been?"

"Same old, same old," Dinah says, with a shrug.

Which means 'people try to take over the world, we stop them.'

"I did find out some interesting things about other worlds with superheroes," she adds, in a slightly overeager tone that suggests what she has to say is specifically important to this conversation.

"Evening," Urquhart says as he sees her, "you look as if you'd been working in a serious way."

"Do I?" Dinah asks, looking down at her stained shirt. "I've only been working on the Triumphs. How've you been, Urq?"

[scots_wolf]

"Irksome, as always," he says. "I was affected by the events with the evil tree god, if you've heard about that."

Pause.

"And my first name, by the way, is Angus; but never worry, keep calling me Urq, it fits a lot better and I've only recently started admitting to my name at all."

[raptorcanaria]

"Angus," Dinah repeats, and smiles. "Good name. What prompted the change?"

[basic_powers]

"...am I going to have to make more desserts just for another emerald poacher?"

He kids, truly!

[raptorcanaria]

She understands that it's a joke, but still gives him a puzzled look.

"...I don't get it?"

"...I'm almost hurt that you've forgotten about that batch of meals I cooked for your team already. Who was the one who kept helping himself to the ice cream sandwiches?"

[raptorcanaria]

Another lengthened look, then she glances down at her shirt.

"Oh. Yeah. Huh, at home no one bats an eye if you wear a Green Lantern T-shirt. Here, everyone thinks you're packing a power ring."

She's glad she didn't wear the S.

"Dark day or blackest night?"

Clementine will always be a bigger Wonder Woman fan, but she can't resist teasing Dinah from her perch at the bar.

"Brightest day, Clem," Dinah corrects, smirking. "How do you know it, anyway?"

"I know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy," she smiles. "How're you doing?"

[raptorcanaria]

"Oh, you know." She bends an arm behind her head to stretch out a muscle. Fighting the good fight. Still criminally single. How're you?"
