[OOM: Do you hear the people sing
Lost in the valley of the night?
It is the music of a people
Who are climbing to the light.
...
Do you hear the people sing?
Say, do you hear the distant drums?
It is the future that they bring
When tomorrow comes...
Tomorrow comes!]
He can hear a distant song, the fading echo of drums, and there is a light that is too bright to be of the world he knows. He stumbles toward it, eventually all but falling through a doorway into...
Well, into he isn't sure where. He looks around him. Surely his comrades should be with him also, if this is indeed the afterlife the priests often spoke of. But there are no faces he recognizes, and he does not believe that the world beyond would take the form of a wine shop even if such a place did exist.
Bloodstained, tattered, smelling of gunpowder, he weaves his way toward the bar, feeling an overwhelming need to sit.

"Blood loss will do that." He was too pale for it not to be.
"Right.." She pulled him up to a chair and helped him sit down. "Easy does it."
There was a quick debate: order from bar directly, or order from the rats and have to explain why a large rat was serving him.
"Bar..can we get some orange juice please...maybe a few cookies?"
A glass of orange juice and some chocolate chip cookies appeared infront of them. True, it probably wasn't the best sort of food heath wise, but it was still food and it would give him a quick shot of energy.

"I...do not understand..."

"Bar here is sentient. If you're polite enough and half money you could ask for anything."
She takes one of the cookies. "Drink up, dehydration's not your friend-cookies aren't bad either."
She takes a bite of one.

Sonya paused..the guy didn't look like he was wearing any underarmor, and looking where the blood was mostly coming from..
Could this guy even leave the bar...she had heard of people being 'bound' here.
"We'll talk about money after one quick question-can you see the 'door' behind you? Just humor me."
no subject
"I...no, I cannot."

"That means your bound here. I don't know the how or why, but I heard that some patrons..when they appear here, they're not able to leave."
Sonya took a look back..she could still see her own door.
"I think there are rooms above here. As for money, I think they have some spots open for bartending, but I'm not totally sure."
It wasn't the best sort of conversation to be having, especially with someone recovering from blood loss, but better now than later.

"You wouldn't have made it back home, would you." It was a sensitive subject, not one to be taken lightly.

So he was dead back home, there was no need to go further with the subject unless he brought it up.
"What'd you do back home anyway?" Another person may've asked how it happened, but Sonya had been around long enough to know that some things weren't spoken about without the other person's say so.

"I was a student."
no subject
"What were you studying?"
She took a bite of the cookie she was holding: it was still slightly warm and chewy.
no subject
"Philosophy and law."
