Moriarty is sprawled on the sofa in front of the fire, hanging half off one end, his violin crooked against his shoulder as he plays Giuseppe Tartini's Violin Sonata in G Minor.

It's not a particularly cheerful tune, but what it is is technically demanding, and Moriarty has his eyes shut and brow furrowed slightly. He'd probably be fairly easy to sneak up on.

Botherable.

Moriarty gives her a goofy grin, rising into a sitting position.

"No doubt. I'm sure someone has used that word to describe me before," he remarks airily.

"Ah yes, one of the many women you are seducing with your math-and-music ways." Oswin nods sagely, "It must be a break between waves, I expect I shall be buried under the weight of infatuated femininity soon."

Alas.

"Oh, almost certainly," Moriarty agrees chirpily, nudging her with his shoulder. "I was terribly unnerved when you didn't swoon dramatically just from listening to my music. I thought you may be ill, or replaced with an evil doppelgänger."

"... I could have a fever." She suggests, giving him a sidelong look and a decidedly wicked grin. "It always does seem that those that have them are always the last to know."

Moriarty grins, gently setting the back of his hand to her forehead. "Well, I can't say you feel feverish."

"Mmm, that means we're left with the evil doppelganger theory." Oswin pouts at him, "Personally I think someone would have to be mad to make copies of me, it'd be rather like cheap knockoffs, but I suppose there's no accounting for taste."

"Oh, I don't know," Moriarty chirps, settling his arm around her shoulders. "I can see the appeal in two of you."

The wink he gives her is slightly too exaggerated to not be self-deprecating.

"Such a filthy mind." She tsks, "Besides, you still have to prove you can keep up with just one of me. I'm not for the faint-of-heart."

Which is completely at odds with the way she settles in against his side. What? He's comfortable.

Moriarty laughs softly, dipping his head to give her a long, and slightly shy kiss.

"... Encouraging." She declares to cover her flustered expression, the one that pops up when her bold 'n' brash attitude slips and the wide-eyed girl looking for adventure shows a bit more than she was intending. "Points for taking the initiative."

Wryly: "Am I being graded?"

"The final exam may be oral or practical." Oswin replies with all the innocence she can muster.

Which isn't a lot, but the effort's there.

Kinda.

"That's a terrible joke," Moriarty teases, but he's going pink in the cheeks anyway.

"Slander." She gasps, elbowing him. "I'd like to see you do better."

Shifty look.

When he kisses her again, it's totally not just how he doesn't have to think of a better dirty joke.

Totally.

No, that's quite alright. Alternate entries are always welcome. She hums her appreciation of his tactics, with a steadying hand gripping his shirt.

Absently, after the kiss is finished: "You know what would be fun? Baking a cake."

Beat.

"And I have a kitchen."

No, he has no idea where this is coming from either. Possibly nerves.

"I do like baking people things. Perhaps a chocolate cake?" She refrains from giggling at his non sequitur, given more towards charity since he really isn't at all bad at kissing.

"So long as you have a fire extinguisher. Sometimes there are distractions."

"Rampaging elephants?" Moriarty asks sagely.

"They are the hidden menace of Milliways." Oswin assures him, her dark eyes very wide. "You never know when one might turn up."

"I consider myself very lucky to have managed to avoid them so far."

"Perhaps I should stick close to you, then - your luck seems to be better than mine." One can't be too careful in the face of rogue elephants.

"I'm sure I could live with that," Moriarty says, rising to his feet (and picking up his violin) and offering Oswin a hand.

"Are you sure? The scores of ladies just waiting to fall at your feet might have a different opinion." Oswin points out archly, taking his hand. "The security folks might not appreciate a riot."

"No doubt they'll manage. It'll be painful at first, but they'll move past it."
