Happy Father's Day.

Impromptu old lady behind the bar.

Happy Father's Day, Milliways!

All dads drink half off.

It would be free, but well...someone's got to charge something around here, after all.

[ooc: open until probably after True Blood.]

"Oh, trust me, now that I have more than five minutes' warning? I plan to." She doesn't have to go in blind, so she won't.
"A couple people, yeah. If I can work up the nerve, I can ask the person doing it now, but she's... kind of intimidating, a little. Or a lot."
But in all honesty, now that Joshua's part of the picture, she'd go to him first. What he doesn't know, he can find out easily, and he's not as... wired for need-to-know as Artie is.
claudiometer: holding phone and lookin' dubious (dubious face is dubious)

"You have a point there."
Claudia sighs again. "In any case, I think I have a while to get my head around the idea now, and figure out if I actually want to take it or or tell 'em screw that, find someone else. Unless there's another Warehouse they had to ditch in a hurry hanging around out there, but I did that archive-scour the other day and didn't find anything."
claudiometer: epic sulk (do not want)

At that, she finally cracks a smile. "Worth looking into, at the very least. What I do know is Mrs. F's been in the job for at least 50 years and hasn't aged a day in all that time."
Wait, did we say she was smiling? NOT ANYMORE.
"This might be one way to give the family history of Alzheimer's the slip, but... I didn't do so well with losing everyone I cared about the first time around. Not looking forward to a repeat performance, even if it won't be everyone."

Well, at least that gets the smile to come back.
"My brother teleported himself into an interdimensional space when I was ten. Took me a while, and kidnapping a federal agent, but I got him out."
And that's her reaction when she knows someone can be saved.

"Actually, yes. He found a door a few months back, and he got... pulled into administration back home, you could say. So he'll be around more, and we have a door that actually stays put."
She can't see Joshua not taking advantage of that, once he's around the Warehouse more often.
"Really, the bigger problem with the teleportation is that he got rushed into it and didn't know it was a two-step process."
claudiometer: text: hey, can someone cover for me while I go chuck a nuke in a wormhole? (end *all* the worlds?)

"...That's not an idea I want to give him. Considering how badly the teleporting went wrong last time..."
She likes her brother in the same dimension, kthx.
"Do I want to know why you're asking?"

Ah. That makes more sense than Claudia's first thought of 'worlds' as in 'places people get to Milliways from.' Other planets in the same universe, she can follow.
"If it were possible, I'd imagine it'd be really damn risky. Like, possibility of leaving body parts behind risky." She does know a thing or two about teleportation theory herself - not nearly as much as Joshua, but she did have all his books for twelve years.

Claudia snorts. "Incredible regenerating livers, maybe. But not anything else that I've heard of.
"Thanks, though. First laugh I've had while sober in a week."
(Building-download stuff aside, this past one was a mother.)
claudiometer: ye olde side-eye smirk (unimpressed by your shenanigans)

"You'll be here all week?"
claudiometer: looking up from a case file (o rly?)

[personal profile] claudiometer 2013-06-17 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Very true. Thanks, though. Really."
It's... still going to take her a while to get her head around the idea any more coherently than 'adda wibba whatta BUILDING.' But at least she has a few more data points to consider.
claudiometer: saluting (at your service)

"I will, thanks."
To the question, Claudia raises her bottle to Sallie. "I'm good."

(OOC: :D :D :D Thank you! I have literally had this thread in mind for a long time now; so glad the opportunity arose.)
