Happy Hour

Sameth is rubbing his eyes as he enters because he's not certain when he last slept. Last night he worked for a while and then today was full of court matters that he had to attend which is why he's in his surcoat and sword. He's not neat anymore because it was a long day but matters coming into place for the Southerlings and he only had to address everyone twice.

The hope of some sleep and then maybe some work on a few ideas he has would have been nice but he can do that later. As he orders a wine, a napkin appears and he sighs and nods before getting out the cocktail book.

Cecil clutches the books.

"If you get too curious," he says quietly, "you get called in for re-education."

Sam stares for a moment, "Then I understand your caution. What can I get you to drink?"

"A nice bourbon," says Cecil.

"Right," He turns around to make the drink and hands it over.

"Let me know if that's not how you like it."

Cecil sips, and then nods in approval. "It's very good."

"There's a good selection here of everything."

[goodnight_nightvale]

"Everything I've tried so far has impressed me." He leans forward to whisper, "I've even had toast."

"Is that something you wouldn't normally have?"

[goodnight_nightvale]

"Wheat and wheat by-products are forbidden," says Cecil, "due to their turning into evil spirits."

[makesthings]

"How?"

[goodnight_nightvale]

Cecil looks bewildered.

His tattoos wave fretfully.

"How does the sun come up in the morning? How is the sky purple on alternative Tuesdays?

"It just does."

[makesthings]

Sam rubs his face and takes a drink of wine before he says,

"I can feel the magic that makes up my world by virtue of my bloodlines. Nothing happens just because."

"There are things," says Cecil, "that happen because someone makes them happen. There are things that happen because someone lets them happen. There are things that happen because no one stops it from happening.

"Which cause it is, is not for me to know. I am just a humble radio host."

"And I'm a prince, Charter Mage and Wallmaker so usually I'm someone who tries to make things happen."

[goodnight_nightvale]

"For some it is to do," Cecil replies. "For others it is to report."

[makesthings]

"I see. Let me know if you need a refill on your drink. I see another patron,"

Then he nods and moves down the counter.

"Thanks," says Cecil, and has another appreciative sip.
