Gavroche emerges from Javert's corner, carrying a plate stacked high with fresh toast in one hand, and a smaller plate in the other bearing several pats of butter.
He's... not actually sure what he's going to do with it all. He's not that hungry. He makes for a table, sits and begins to eat, keeping an eye out for friends.
Anyone for toast?

He glances over and smiles at her.
"See, I told you you'd find a way."

"...Trixie was drunk. And a foal."
no subject
"Yes, you were", he agrees calmly. "But Trixie was also very upset. I hope you didn't have too much of a hangover."
no subject
Trixie is silent for a moment more, magically levitating her glass of water to her lips and taking a sip. "...I... I drank something which helped sober me up. ...Trixie demands to know just who exactly gave her this cake." Yes, she's attempting to change the subject.

Gavroche chuckles and lets her.
"I don't know, I'm sorry. Somebody obviously wanted to give you something for fixing things."

"It's not charity", he says firmly. "Charity is somebody giving you something because they think you need it. This is a present somebody gave you because they think you deserve it."

"You're forgiven." That's sincere and unhesitating. "It was an accident, and you found a way to put it right. Even if you'd only tried to put it right, it would have meant a lot."

Gavroche laughs and nudges the plate closer to her.
"Have some, if you want. There's an acquaintance from my world, somebody's introduced him to toasters. We don't have them there, you have to use a spike and an open fire, and he seems to like the idea."

"Put the bread in
Put the bread in
Turn the knob
Up to three
Stay there till it pings up
Stay there till it pings up
Yum yummy. Yum yummy."

"There's a toast song?" he asks, amused. "Hello, Fry, Guppy."
no subject
"Fry has songs for lots of things." Guppy says, grinning. "To help remember how to do stuff."
no subject
"Songs are very useful", he agrees. "Do you want some? There's too much here for me."
no subject
"He means too much toast." Guppy says.
"Did you wash your hands?" Fry asks.
no subject
"I haven't touched the toast I didn't eat", he promises. "Only the plate."
Javert is another matter, but why muddy the waters?

no subject
"Of course you can." He pushes the plate that way and looks up at Guppy. "Somebody gave Javert a toaster. I think he might be obsessed with it."

"And efficient. He made all this, not actually wanting it, just to see the thing work. And he had a screwdriver."
no subject
"He didn't mean to be." Guppy says.

"Things were different in our time, Fry", Gavroche tells him. "We didn't see very many people with dark skin in France, and you could say things then that you can't get away with in your time. What did he say?"
