Happy Hour, Victorian Bros Edition!

Helena has had a busy week, so to escape a bit of the chaos, and frankly, to eat something that is not leftover Thanksgiving dinner, Helena wanders into the bar.

With her drink, she receives a napkin. "If you say so, darling...." She gets another. "Oh, that is a good idea."

Looking up, she catches Wooley's eye. "Oh, Wooley, darling, come help me, will you?"

He protests, but she wins out in the end. As he goes upstairs, she writes on the board:

Happy Hour!

Half off your drink if Wooley doesn't have to mix it.

"Really, Helena?" David returns with a menorah with five candles.

"Well, darling, we have to have a bit of amusement here."

"Oh, alright."

"But must your amusement always be at my expense?"
He's teasing, of course. If he were truly upset he'd be gone.

"Not always, darling, I promise." She grins. "You must admit, however, that this is one of my more tame ones."

"Yes, I suppose you have new people to bother for your amusement these days." David rolls his eyes. "I'm well aware this is tame by your standards."

"Mostly Joshua, to be perfectly frank."

With a side of Pete or Claudia. After a moment, she looks up from a mug she's washing off.

"Thank you for Friday, by the way. We hadn't had a conversation like that in years."

"Of course. I thought you could use it, not to mention a chance to talk about the good things."
At present, he's the only person in Helena's life who met Christina, and as such the only person who knows any stories about her that don't involve her death. He thought it would help her to not dwell on the last bit.

"It was much appreciated, darling." Helena smiles. "Joshua tries, and he does help, but you knew her."

David nods. "Precisely. And part of not dwelling on it is allowing yourself to talk about what made you happy."

[timelessinventor]

"Exactly. Perhaps that is part of healing, remembering why I loved her in the first place, and not just that she's gone."

"Hello, Helena." Howard has the smile of a very contented man.

[timelessinventor]

"Hello, darling!" Helena grins at him, and leans forward over the bar. "Have you recovered well from our little excursion?" She's mostly teasing.

Howard, in turn, leans closer and gives Helena a playful but definitely warm kiss. "I think so. I've never found Catalina to be so invigorating."

[timelessinventor]

Helena returns the kiss cheerfully and warmly as well. "It was an absolutely lovely place. Thank you for taking me with you."

"And thank you for coming, my dear." He takes a seat and studies the specials. As well as Helena. "I think we both needed the weekend away from everything else."

"Quite, darling. It has definitely been quite chaotic back home. People seem to be cheerfully taking this particular time to use Artifacts."

A pause, in which she studies him just as much. "Can I get you something in particular, darling?"

"Can you explain who Wooley is? And then get me a scotch, neat.

"And am I allowed to buy you something as well?" Is that against the rules, flirting with the bartender?

[timelessinventor]

"I dare say you could get me something. I really doubt it's against any rules I know of." She grins at him, and pours his drink as well as a Gin and Tonic for herself.

"Wooley is my former partner at the Warehouse. He showed up here a few weeks ago, and we've been reconnecting quite a lot." She points over to the other man behind the bar. "He was one of my best friends for many years."

Charles smiles at them as he comes to the Bar, "Does a Scotch count as mixing?"

"Not so far as I'm concerned." He doesn't mind the idea as much as the specials board would suggest; it's simply that drinks, like everything else, seem to have changed quite a bit over the intervening years.
"How do you take it?"

"With ice and a touch of soda. How's Milliways treating you? I believe we talked at Halloween."

[this_isaturn]

It takes David a moment to place the fellow's face, given the different clothing, but then he nods.
"Quite well, so far. It's been good getting to talk to Helena again."

"She's a fascinating woman. I don't know her as well as I'd like to. Milliways seems to suit her as does the future."

[this_isaturn]

David smiles. "She's blossoming again. I cannot overstate how good it is to see that."
He's seen Helena in some pretty low moments (and here, a flash of when they found out what had happened to Christina crosses his mind), but he'd always had faith she could find her way back to happiness. He's just sorry it took her so long to have that faith in herself.

"I understand that feeling. How about yourself? I hope you're not bored,"

The memories remind him of some of Erik's pain and Charles nods, there's so much pain in the world.

"Far from it. Helena's promised me reading material, just as soon as she's done editing it."
If that's intended to be Joshua's Christmas present, though, she'll want to step it up a bit.
"And I've been attempting to get better acquainted with the place. As best as one can, at least."
