Winter Wonderland - 12th Night Party!

Father Christmas returns from the mountains this 12th night, leading the chained Krampus and his former captives. Some of them are triumphant, some hurt and limping, some are huddled with their friends who have been searching for them.

Those entering the bar today will find one corner of it decked out in a minimalist theme of white, silver, and blue snowflakes. Warm, enchanted snow drifts down from the ceiling, disappearing before it alights on the floor, but piling up on the window sills and mantle of the fire.

Snowmen dance outside on a glassy floor, circling and swaying in lines. Should one want a fancier change of clothes after an ordeal in the labyrinth, it'll magically be provided at the door.

"It was part of the nasty trip, for some reason. We left one part of it and found ourselves there."

"Sounds like a serious head-trip. Are you okay?"

"I have experienced worse. The giant scorpions, however, I could have lived without."

[runningred]

"Scorpions? Shit, man! Sorry. That most have sucked."

[1stwitness]

"It certainly was an experience I hope never to repeat."

[runningred]

"You're back now, that's way matters. Sorry there wasn't more I could do to help you."

"Jason." He shakes his head. "For one thing, you were not here and could not have known what was happening. For another, Alex tried to help me and was herself kidnapped."

"Your lady wife has been out searching for you. She's one hell of a tracker."

[1stwitness]

"I wouldn't doubt it. She and I both learned, the state of New York was not then quite the civilised place it has become."

[runningred]

"Oh there's still wildness there. Just a different kind of wildness. Cities can be just as dangerous as the forest. Although hopefully containing less massive hairy kidnappers."

"And more easily mapped."

[runningred]

"Yeah, that's true. So you doing okay?"

[1stwitness]

"Absolutely fine, some scratches and bruises aside. At least now I am back - although I do look forward to a long hot bath."

[runningred]

"One of the great advantages of the bar, endless hot water." Jay grins.

[1stwitness]

"And of the modern world in general, it seems."

[runningred]

"Nothing beats good water pressure. Or a nice big bath to soak in. I'm afraid I'm a hedonist when I comes to hot water."

[1stwitness]

"Well, you travel", Ichabod points out. "It can't be often you have the opportunity of a nice big bath."

[runningred]

"But when I do you have to pry me out of it. I'll soak till I'm a prune given the chance." Jay laughs. "So what else of modern times have you fallen in love with?"

[1stwitness]

"I'm rather fond of some of the modern devices. The ones to make coffee without all that fuss and trouble, especially."

[runningred]

Jay laughs warmly. "A man after my own heart. I've got a little portable coffee maker in my kit-bag. Can't go anywhere without my caffeine hit."

[1stwitness]

"And a bag of your grandfather's blend to go with it?"

[runningred]

Jay's smile falls and he goes quiet for a moment. "No. No, I haven't seen Alfred for four years. He... he doesn't know I'm alive."

[1stwitness]

"Oh, I'm sorry." He studies his friend's face. "I hadn't realized it was Alfred you meant."

[runningred]

"He... He's the closest thing I have to family. The only one I miss."

[1stwitness]

"But it would be too difficult to contact him without also running into the others?"
