William is feeling more like himself after some awful days up in his room as he found new ways to hurt and had trouble remembering who he was.

Today he's come down because his injuries from the fight feel like they'll get worse if he doesn't move and he needs more ice or something for all the bruises on his face, also the fire will feel nice. He hopes that the man he fought was Javert thinking he was Robin Hood and not Ben Wade, that would be awful, more awful.

There's a bandage visible under his shirt on one arm and his shirt isn't buttoned properly as his arm hurts, also he's carrying down a sword. At the counter, he drops it and tells Bar to return it to Teja before gently taking the tray with tomato soup, grilled cheese and tea on it to a table close to the fire.

"That sounds useful cause I can't go home until I look like I haven't been in a bad fight."

Jay chuckles and helps William back into his shirt before fishing a tube out of a drawer. "I can't imagine having to explain this place to people who have never experiences it."

"Well, some folks from here have helped out at home so that helps. I just don't go into details."

Jay frowned. "Didn't know that was possible. Let me know if I can lend a hand. Might be nice to see another world for a change."

"Most people I know back home are use to this sort of thing. If I said I'd fell through a multi-verse rabbit hole, most people won't blink twice." Not that there's anyone waiting for him at the moment. He's kind of short on friends at home.

"Yeah, you can take someone through your door. I've had some folks help out on a cattle drive once. I'd be glad to bring you through sometime."

"I'll have to remember that. Might come in handy. Yeah, for sure. I'd love to see your farm sometime. Once you're healed through."

"Well, yeah, ain't goin' to be doin' much until then. Maybe catchin' up on my reading."

"Good thing this place has a kick-ass library." Jay grins, nodding to a couple of books of his own.

"It does. Anything you think I'd like?"

"Don't know. What are you into? Most of the stuff I read are mechanic's manuals and 20s detective novels. Love a good whodunits."

"Dime novels, which are usually mysteries or adventure novels. I've been reading other stuff since I got here cause there's more,"

Its not easy to get books at home.

"Whole library of space and time." Jay grins, nodding to the skin fuser. "I've been trying to lay hands on a design for one of those. Won't hurt to have myself that bit of kit. Never know when you might need it."

"Yeah, gets kind of intimidating knowing where to start. Do you think it'll be hard to make? I know how to do the stuff we need around the ranch but not that sort of building."

"If the lovely Miss Bar will let me have the parts, it shouldn't be too hard. It's the power source that's tricky. I guess I could just pay for a whole fuser but I want to try building it myself first. Understand the insides."

"How would you power it? It doesn't seem like electricity would be enough."

"A tiny little future tech or alien battery. Something I can't reproduce myself."

"But you could buy one probably from someone here. There's all sorts of strange stuff that people have here."

"Worth a try. I hadn't thought of that." He rubs his chin thoughtfully.

"How about you? Anything you want to build?"

"No, this time of year, its more keepin' the fences and all intact."

"Sounds easy enough to manage if you stay on top of it." He wishes he knew what he could build for William. Give him a project to focus on.

"Just takes time is all, we don't have a lot of land but enough."

"And horses have got to help. Once we're both healed, you'll have to teach me to ride."

"Don't have to wait too long to do that. I can ride like this. I've been doing stable work here."

"Take it easy, mate. Give yourself time to heal." He shrugs his stiff shoulder. "Besides, I'm still not up to spec."

"I will. Then you can spend some time with the horses, that's a good start,"

He's better at telling other people to rest than he is at doing it himself.
