It has, apparently, been One Of Those Days across the multiverse. In its aftermath, we find several people in Milliways trying to unwind.

Alyx Vance is seated in a corner booth with a beer in one hand and a screwdriver in the other, taking apart a graphing calculator.

Twilight Sparkle is seated on the floor by the fireplace with a plate of cookies and a light historical novel.

And Vanellope von Schweetz has faceplanted on the couch and is snoring lightly.

They are all botherable, if you dare.

"Okay, okay!" Alyx holds up her hands in a gesture of surrender. "I was just checking."

"I asked him, anyway," Ellen says. "And I told people that I knew that I'd asked him when I met them next after asking him. This is just the first time I've seen you in a while."

She pauses.

"Would this be a bad time to ask when you last slept? This... doesn't quite seem like your usual avenue of discussion."

Alyx sags in her seat and drags her hands over her face again. "I dunno. What day of the week is it?"

"I'm not sure what the local calendar says," Ellen admits. "The twins are really getting to you, huh."

[vance_prime]

"I swear they can't go twenty-four hours without destroying something," says Alyx wearily. "I still haven't been able to repair that horse-computer Karkat gave me."

[aaaaaaaagh_sky]

"Ouch." Ellen winces. "Sorry to hear that. If I knew anything about the workings of his style of computer I'd offer to have a look, but I don't think even Wadsworth could fix that stuff. The most I can do is offer to babysit for a while, if you bring them here or something like that."

"Oh Christ no. I wouldn't inflict that on you."

[aaaaaaaagh_sky]

Ellen smiles wryly. "Well, remember the offer still stands if you ever really need it," she says. "I'll bring Dogmeat. He's good with calves. That probably counts for something."

[vance_prime]

"Well, in the meantime, I had a wedding present started for you... I'll get it to you as soon as I can, okay?"

"Sure," Ellen says with a smile. "Take your time. And thank you, Alyx, I appreciate it."
