Rae's subdued heart lightened somewhat when she came into the bar and saw Cubefall had come around again. It has always been an enjoyable time for her, in the past. And she could use something... happy, right now.

Usually, her choice when it came to reconfigurations was easy. But this year, Rae isn't sure what to choose. They all have something she would be interested in experiencing.

One configuration offers a change in perspective.


One offers an opportunity to step away from the conflicting emotions plaguing her.


One offers strength.


And the last offers... freedom.


It has been an entire week and a half of uncertainty, for Sunshine, and it seems to be continuing into today. Cubefall offers a temporary escape - an offer Sunshine will eagerly accept - but she just doesn't know which to pick. As she considers her options, she idly begins building something akin to a castle out of the Lego bricks she finds nearby.

Come help her choose. Or, help her build her castle.

"You really don't want to let your finger slip on that one, Miss Seddon," says the large yellow teddy bear on a couch nearby with the voice of Father Harman.

Sunshine recognizes the voice, and is already answering - "It might be easier to make it a random..." - when she notices that her friend's voice had come from a large, yellow teddy bear.

Sunshine stares.

"Father Harman?"

"Um... Is that what happened with you?" She can't at all imagine him purposefully choosing this shape.

"It is," Father Harman says. "I was going to pick the hawk. How on earth am I going to do Sunday's service like this? I promised people, even though Javert and Valjean are safely back in France."

They had needed him most.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you."

"You didn't... well, you didn't startle me much - and I doubt it's something that could've been helped," Rae says, offering a slight smile, beginning a tower on one side of her castle.

"Very likely there will be some changed patrons in the audience as well, so perhaps they won't mind that you are in a different shape, too. This is Milliways. Weirdness abounds."

She's not the only one fiddling with the Legos. Fiddling with Legos is always a good thing, provided you have the opposable thumbs to do it.

Though the young woman building a respectable Lego fortress at a nearby table does pause, halfway to reaching for some more blocks. "...God donut, Joshua, I told you to bag that thing more often." And then she goes back to what she was doing.

(This is one weird Cubefall experience for Claudia. But kinda cool. BUT WEIRD.)

The red-head at the bar looks over from working on a tower for her fairy-tale castle. Sh doesn't recognize the woman... or really understand at all what she said.

"Bag what thing?" she asks, curious despite herself.

[claudiometer]

"Don't mind me, apparently accidentally Cubefalling means a running tally of what's going on at home and Joshua didn't put his caffeine tchotchke away again. And I can't very well go yell at him looking like this." So he'd better figure it out his own damn self.

"Looking like that?" Rae echoes, eyebrows rising slightly. "This is your Cubefall shape, then, I suppose. What do you normally look like?"

Rae is assuming the person is usually male. Gender-switched shapes seemingly come standard with Cubefall options.

"Rae?" He can't be sure that it isn't someone who became Rae. Though that would be weird. But no weirder than being a synthetic man. "It's Howard. Hi." His voice sounds a bit off.

Sunshine looks up from her half-built Lego castle, and blinks.

"Howard? Hey," she says, offering a hesitant smile. "Is... is that your Cubefall configuration?"

"Yes. A sort of robot that was on display at the World's Fair in New York. Not a robot in the usual sense, since I don't think I have any moving parts or gears or metal. But definitely not human for the day.

"It's...strange." He misses his mustache, for one thing.

"And how are you, aside from still yourself?"

"Still surviving," she says, with a slightly wry smile. "Not thriving, at the moment, due to some issues that have come up with a friend of mine..."

If finding out a good friend of yours is a serial killer and cannibal can be boiled down to 'some issues.'

"But... I'll deal. Somehow. Just not right now - I'm looking for a good escapist diversion." She is, at least, very honest about her procrastination when it comes to serious emotional trauma and betrayal. "Cubefall has perfect timing. I just don't know what to choose."

[singthesong]

A small bluebird flits up to the bar, perching on the counter and cocking his head up at the screen for a moment.

"Having wings is fun," he suggests after a moment. "Though centaur, that's an interesting one."

Rae looks up from her Lego castle, smiling as she sees the bluebird.

"Oh yes," she agrees. "I was a small, colorful songbird for Cubefall a couple of years back - flight is thrilling."

"It's tempting to do that again... though all the others have something to offer, too," she shrugs, still at a loss as to what to choose. Offering a smile and a slight nod in his direction, she adds, "I suspect this is your Cubefall shape, then. You're not usually a bluebird, are you?"

[singthesong]

The Balladeer flutters up to perch on top of the viewscreen, the better to have an actual conversation. He's used to being so much taller than this. "No, I'm human." He gives a little birdy headtilt. "Well, I look human."

Rae settles her chin into her hand, gazing at him in mild curiosity. "May I ask what you are normally, if you just look human? We haven't met before, have we?"

[onceaviking]

Eric is avoiding the Bar. And the construction toys. And definitely the furnace, well locked or not.

He spots Rae and makes his way over. "Miss Seddon."

He is much paler than he normally is, but he's washed his face.

She knows he's coming before she looks up - she can feel it. There's no disguising the feeling of there being a vampire in the room.

"Mr. Northman," she replies equably, turning slightly towards him. "You're looking... somewhat better than the last time I saw you."

It's a very slight 'somewhat.'

He acknowledges her statement with a somewhat curt nod.
It's not an evening he wishes to dwell on if he can help it.

Instead, he says, "I've had a little chat with our mutual friend in the cells."

[street_sparrow]

"You should be the phoenix", Gavroche advises, looking over her shoulder. "It suits you."

[sunbaked_baker]

"Not quite a phoenix, I think." Rae offers him a small smile over her shoulder. "In stories, the firebird grants gifts of hope and beauty to those who help it, curses and death to those who rob it of its freedom or steal its feathers."

Is that her?

[street_sparrow]

"You don't want to mess with mythological creatures", he agrees solemnly. "I was thinking of its connection with the sun."

[runningred]

Jay comes over with a flag to add to her castle. "You too, huh?" He shows her his options - robot bike, female version of himself and a red hawk.

"What are you thinking?"

Rae smiles at him over her shoulder, welcoming. "I'm thinking I'm not good at making decisions. I can find reasons to choose to all of them."

"What about you?"

"I know what you mean. I'm thinking robot bike or hawk. Girl!me just sounds like trouble waiting to happen."

He leans over to peek at hers. "Go the phoenix, you know you want to fly."
